Description
Project Warlock is a first person shooter that fans of Doom, Hexen and Wolfenstein cannot miss. It serves you an exploding cocktail of bullets, spells and monsters. In Project Warlock you battle through 60 levels of non stop action packed with bloodthirsty enemies and challenging bosses. The game offers not just firepower, but perk-based character development, weapon upgrades and unlockable spells system. This high-quality independent gem is priced to appeal to fans of polished indie titles and seekers of classic fps experience alike.

Back in April 2018 hundreds of gamers had a chance to experience an early build of Project Warlock and gave their enthusiastic feedback. The following six months the Buckshot team, with it’s showrunner Jakub Cislo, spent on polishing the game to bring you the most complete and satisfying experience. The end result is something you can check for yourself.

Oh. And John Romero thinks “it looks cool”.

Low Effort Cash Grab

This is nothing like Ion Maiden. No story, weak uninspired art style, generic and bland level design, dull and boring combat & enemies. Played 5 minutes and uninstalled. Fans of Doom, Hexen and Wolfenstein can miss this. I can see why it's a GOG exclusive, it wouldnt sell anywhere else.

This game got me!

Bought this game today and i instantly fell in love with its looks, the soundstrack and the gameplay. It took me a bit to fully get into it, but then the fun started. The looks are frigging awesome with mix of Cel Shading/Pixel graphics. The gameplay is fluent and gunplay is great fun, especially the sounds of the fired weapons. Skill management is great and adds some RPG elements, which i greatly enjoy. For me this is a minor classic. Buy it!

The best "Wolfclone" ever.

Despite the description talking about similiarities to Doom/Heretic, game feels more like Wolfenstein 3D, due to the map layout. However there are more weapons, spells, upgrade system, minimap (thank God!), varied, interesting enemies and more. Yet another good oldschool throwback, however, the optimization is horrendous. I know, my laptop isn't exactly state of the art, but <20 FPS? This is simply unacceptable, system requirements shouldn't be so high. 8 GBs of RAM and 2GB for VRAM for such visiuals is... well, you saw the screenshots, right? P.S. DO NOT USE HIGH SETTINGS. It limits your vision and cuts the framerate significantly.

Very good throwback to fps days of old

Im a pretty old-school gamer (or just old) but i fondly remember the days of doom2, heretic, hexen, blood and co. I bought this game because it advertises itself as a throwback to that era and the reviews were very good. I havent beaten it yet but im enjoying it greatly. It has a lot going for it and definately caputres the feeling i have for those games. its not perfect (levels are tiny, some art decisions are a bit questionable, and its more wolfenstein 3D than lets say Blood or Hexen) but it has a lot of strenghts (awesome old school music, fluid animations, fast gameplay and a fun perk/stat system). i'm always looking forward to my next play session and it does scratch that its for old school games i've had. for that i rate it 4/5

Glitchy as hell and cheap...

... the latter not in a good way... Sometimes you teleport around like in a laggy online game. It's not fun to try to dodge away from a group of enemies only to suddenly find yourself right in their midst. Every time a new level loads, you have to manually go back to full screen. The controls also are a bit laggy, as if this game had some input lag. The skill point system doesn't have that much impact in the first half of the game - if you don't get every single secret, you can only upgrade one of the bigger weapon skills before the first boss, which brings me to: If you die in this game, e.g. the boss is back to full health but your spent ammo is still gone? That's crap. The enemies themselves don't have much variety. Just keep away, dodge projectiles if any and unload on them. Use melee to be more ammo efficient, but that's just it. You remember the Archvile from Doom that forced you to break line of sight? The hitscanning Zombiemen, that gave you a good reason to prioritize those weaker enemies while dodging the bigger ones? Or the Revenant that made you dodge homing missiles? None such more complex enemies here. Also, you can't revisit earlier levels to find all the secrets, which seems just an unnecessary hindrance. And of course, expect the bosses shooting through solid walls to kill you or enemies spawning in behind you when you pickup a key. It is a throwback to the good old times, after all :-)
