Project Warlock is a first person shooter that fans of Doom, Hexen and Wolfenstein cannot miss. It serves you an exploding cocktail of bullets, spells and monsters. In Project Warlock you battle through 60 levels of non stop action packed with bloodthirsty enemies and challenging bosses. The game offers not just firepower, but perk-based character development, weapon upgrades and unlockable spells system. This high-quality independent gem is priced to appeal to fans of polished indie titles and seekers of classic fps experience alike.
Back in April 2018 hundreds of gamers had a chance to experience an early build of Project Warlock and gave their enthusiastic feedback. The following six months the Buckshot team, with it’s showrunner Jakub Cislo, spent on polishing the game to bring you the most complete and satisfying experience. The end result is something you can check for yourself.
It is a fun game to play, with the ability to customize your character by focusing on different aspects within your hideout; abilities, guns, and magic. Easy enough to beat, and not really going to make you think, except how to sprint. Remeber to turn sprint on, and the game becomes incredibly easier.
It loses a star for the odd difficulty jump. The first one, doesn't require too much thinking. The second one requires some strategy. The third, well, unless you are incredibly cautious, you will be losing all of your progress multiple times. If the second difficulty was a bit harder, or the third one didn't have a permenant death feature, then it would be a better game.
I'll try to keep this short. I've been playing through a lot of old-school shooter games and modern entries using the same design philosphies of old titles we all know and love. Project Warlock appeared on my radar and was presented to me as a take on the old-formula with a little bit of a twist. While I can see why some people would say what they have about Project Warlock, I think you probably would enjoy this game more if you go into it not expecting that. There are definitely a lot of similar elements but Project Warlock has created it's own identity that makes it enjoyable to play. The game definitely has flaws such as there's been a few really, really tough situations I've been stuck at in later episodes. That being said, the game supposedly randomly generates it's levels. If that's the case, the game definitely deserves praise I think. Randomly generated levels has been done better in other games. However, this game definitely does a great job and has a general flow to it usually. Weapons feel strong and the upgrades for them are real neat. Spells are a bit lackluster in my opinion but I'm here for the weapons moreso than the spells. Overall, a good time but don't go into it expecting something akin to Blood, Ion Maiden, Doom, Heretic, etc. It does share elements with them such as the way secrets are typically laid out, color keys, different episodes/themes, and a large variety of weapons. That being said, there's a specific pillar in the game's design that I can't even pinpoint myself that makes this completely different to play compared to the titles of old.
I got this because I thought it looked fun - as though a little Rougelite game for a little bit of fun.
I started, lost track of time, and found out I had played for nearly 3 hours straight. As someone who has lost a great deal of passion for games nowadays, I am joyed that I could be so engrossed within this game.
The sound design is good, the soundtrack is "Meh" at worst and Amazing at its best. The action brings me back to games like Doom immediately, albeit with modern sensibilities. I especially loved the "RPG" elements in the game, allowing you to balance your own approach.
Simply put, I've played games and known how bad they can be within the first 10 minutes. I knew this was great with 5. A modern Must for people who enjoy older Shooters.
I really enjoyed this game and if you're a fan of 2d shooters from back in the 90's then I can guarantee you will too.
I'm an older gamer who played all the old classics like Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke Nukem, and more.
This game is like a throwback to them while adding fun and imaginative features, like upgrading weapons and powers. It allows you to create a weapon set and abilities to work with the way you like to fight.
It also keeps the nice level progression from older games and you move level by level, area to area, theme to theme.
And speaking of the themes, the area themes are awesome. You'll find yourself in snowy arctic areas and ancient Egypt type areas. As well as factory and futuristic settings.
Listen, it's just a blast of a game and it's super affordable.
I don't have much time to game anymore and I blasted through this game and could not put it down.
Purchase and enjoy.
I started it, died, had to learn the game mechanics and what weapons are best. I thought I might have made a mistake. Took another shot, now im on episode 3, and this game is awesome. Once you figure out what you like best, and what can tackle certain enemies best... You become Doom guy powerful. Its so satisfying to mow down enemies in this game. Totally worth every penny
