o·mer·ta (-mûrt, mr-tä) - A rule or code that prohibits speaking or divulging information about the activities of a criminal organization.
Bug-eyed Bettys are making a racket with “lips that touch wine, won’t kiss mine” and not minding their own beeswax. The fuzz are busy closing down the local juice joints and pouring perfectly good spirits down the drain. All this fuss about liquor sure can drive a man to drink. It isn’t easy to wet one’s whistle but there some bootleggers who are always happy to provide as long as you got the scratch.
Omerta: City of Gangsters puts you into the boots of a fresh-from-the-boat immigrant with dreams of the big life. Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
This game has a game breaking bug that is still not fixed on GOG after 3 months since it was fixed on Steam.
It prevents the player from completing the game and breaks the campaign halfway through the story. This is very disappointing.
Kalypso itself is confirming its reputation of churning out half finished games and dropping support without fixing the bugs.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME HERE, IT'S PLAIN BROKEN.
Read the bad reviews: they are right, and it's the first time bad reviews make me want to buy a game.
The overall realization is really fine : graphics and music are really good.
This game is about building a crime society in the '30s prohibition in the US, like Al Capone business.
And it does it quite well : atmosphere is there.
The story is about an Italian migrant arriving on East coast with few money in hands, and who will set up the best business here.
The american dream, with booze, machine guns, dirty money and gansters.
It has two gameplays :
- A real time management gameplay, top down view of a city area where we can assign gang members in differents mission to build the business.
There are many different possibilities to increase business, and it's overall fun - yet very easy, IA opponents are not a challenge.
- Tactical turn based combats, where we lead our gang members directly to kill opponents and or get things.
Let's confirm one point : the game is really easy.
If you like building your own story without any serious challenge, if you wanna be the Godfather whithout any opponent, then this game is for you.
Otherwise, you will be disapointed.
I bought this game + all DLC at discounted price, about $6.
And I dony regret.
First and foremost, what is this game doing on gog? it's certainly not good.
The gameplay is too easy, there is no real challange, no ai to counter my moves, even the combat are nothing like xcom or grotesque tacticts.
Next time I spend my money on a indie game instead of a big title - poor content game.
Essentially, the game can be divided into two parts: an extremely basic management rts and a fairly competent tbt. What this means is that while you are still going to enjoy killing people every now and then, the shallow system that lies behind the development of your business will bore you to death.
The things I enjoyed the most about Omerta are its excellent music and highly specialised weapon system. Unfortunately, even the good bits of this game are tainted by its game breaking bugs. Have you completed half of the game? Enjoy Georgia Ave! Are you seeing the credits after a tutorial mission? Well, life is short, enjoy it while you can!
Man, if you want play a strategy gangster game I suggest you play games like Gangsters 1 & 2 and Gangland. Omerta is a worst game about Cosa Nostra I ever played.
