Description
Includes 4 DLC packages: The Bulgarian Colossus, Damsel in Distress, The Arms Industry, and The Con Artist.

o·mer·ta (-mûrt, mr-tä) - A rule or code that prohibits speaking or divulging information about the activities of a criminal organization.

Bug-eyed Bettys are making a racket with “lips that touch wine, won’t kiss mine” and not minding their own beeswax. The fuzz are busy closing down the local juice joints and pouring perfectly good spirits down the drain. All this fuss about liquor sure can drive a man to drink. It isn’t easy to wet one’s whistle but there some bootleggers who are always happy to provide as long as you got the scratch.

Omerta: City of Gangsters puts you into the boots of a fresh-from-the-boat immigrant with dreams of the big life. Work your way up the criminal hierarchy of 1920’s Atlantic City, starting with small jobs, recruiting new gang members and expanding your empire by taking territory from other mobsters. Establish your own crime syndicate and become the de facto ruler of Atlantic City!
  • Conquer a historically accurate Atlantic City with 20 unique districts featuring real-world landmarks in a story-driven campaign or sandbox freeplay game.
  • Strategic real-time gameplay for planning coups, expanding your territory, extorting the competition, and bribing the authorities.
  • Lead your henchmen into elaborately planned turn-based tactical combat as you pull off bank heists, robberies, street battles, and more.

NOT a sandbox game

To me at least, this was a complete waste of money. The so called "sandbox" mode is just you spending some time to "beat" the level. There is no competition, no one to fight, no trying to muscle in on you. You just build up, paying off police now and then to lose "heat" until you own everything in the *miniscule* maps available. If you enjoy, short, predictable games that you can win with ease then you'll like this. If you were hoping for a gangster strategy game...there is no strategy in this, non what so ever. Strategy, requires opponents, what this game has feels more like quests than anything else.

Bad investment

The game has potential but lacks a good many tools. There's no such thing as a pannel to review your current businesses. The floating icon on top of your buildings wont let you know what type of business you did there, just lets you know out of three sorts, which one it is. The AI is pretty predictable. It would be an okay game for 5-10 $. The Battles are a welcome relief although and there's a decent mix of situations there. The challenge on that part is alright. The except for a few mecanics, it's hard to properly control heat, like and fear. No specific amount of influence being tagged to each building types. There's no proper way to Gauge it. So, basically a short game lacking on a lot of aspects for the price of it. Feels more like a tablet game than a computer one.

Wasted potential

At first, I was excited. Perhaps this would be similar like XCOM? Except for Gangsters: Organized Crime. Bring the old game to modern era. Too bad I was wrong. So wrong. Game is like playing Monopoly against yourself. You never fight against anyone, police are not a real threat at all. They are just occasional bribe, or even worse... you use them to get rid of your few competitors. That never do anything. You never feel like you are running a gang. All merchandise, from Beer to Firearms, just appear. Supply chains are so small it's sad. Your gang is restricted to max 6 person, with only 4 being able to fight in few combat sequences. There are no other gangs to speak off. Story wise, they exist, but in game you never deal with them. So called "war" in one mission plays just like every other mission in the game, except your "special missions" have slightly different descriptions and combat missions are scripted to appear. If you are still interested, check the demo. Play it. After that, imagining doing that for the entire game. That's it. Demo shows everything there really is. Full game just gives you two more buildings and something to use your Clean Money for, but otherwise... it's the same. There is no interesting new mechanics that are introduced later in the game.

Waste of money

The blend of management and tactical combat in a prohibition historical context was a nice promise. The atmosphere, the jazzy musics, the deep gameplay elements, everything is theoretically there, except for one major thing: challenge. There is no tough choice, no difficulty in getting wealth and shaking the authorities, no trouble in the combat. Whatsoever.

Pass on it

I had high hopes for this game but they seem to have crashed and burn. This is just basically a game of monopoly you play with yourself. While it has such good potential it seems to fall flat on so many more areas. Look at youtube videos before you buy it or try out the demo first. You will have to Google for it but they made a demo you can try out. But it seems the game devs took a lot of ideas from other games and just did not do enough with them.
