Could be great, but lacking polish.

A great majority of the game is clearing out jungles while moving from cover to cover. I genuinely like the feeling of taking solid shots and slowly whittling away the enemy, one by one, as I gain ground. If you like that type of FPS, then you should check this game out. This is not a run-and-gun. There are segments of the game where this formula just works and you feel like a marine who is working with his team in an actual jungle in the Pacific. However, the game has pretty big glitches that made this experience extremely frustrating. The largest one is the sloppy hitboxes. Most of the cover you find have hitboxes that aren't accurate and don't align with edges. You will peek over an edge and shoot, only to find that your bullet hit the air a foot above the edge. You will shoot through a crack and see that the crack can't be shot through. In a game where you have to take cover and take careful shots, this is unacceptable and I found myself constantly annoyed by this issue. I also experienced multiple areas of the game where enemies could shoot at you, but you literally can't see or move through to where the enemies are shooting from. This manifests itself as bullets seemingly coming from nowhere with no way for you to shoot back. You can command your team to retreat and the enemy will follow you, but this works only a fraction of the time. In addition, there is a glitch where crouching/going prone doesn't work after a quickload. You can't take cover until you restart the game. There is also a glitch where the scope zoom doesn't fix itself when you switch to another weapon. These frustrations build up. I played this game on hard and found the flying level impossible (plane doesn't "heal" between segments and a single enemy strafe will take off a few hundred/1000 health) and the later parts of the game extremely save-scummy. Otherwise, the other parts are good and you get some sweet music and a personal story. I only recommend it if it's on sale.

MEH

Game requires far too much tinkering to get working on modern systems at reasonable FOV and Resolution, and isn't really worth the effort. I had a lot of fun with the Allied Assault warchest and wish I had stopped there. Mid level loads after nearly every encounter and barely any healthpacks means you need to run over to your medic every other encounter, stand still, heal, and then hope you dont get downed and banzai charged while you wait for your medic to run back over to you.
