Like a movie

I've picked this title up on sale, although it was expensive for a relatively old game I liked the gameplay I've seen on youtube so decided to try it out - and I'm very glad I did. This is my first try of Medal of Honor and I'll be looking for other titles in the series. What I liked at most is the way story is being told - it's like a movie, there is a main character that you play for, you start right in the middle of action, barely understanding what's happening but already intrigued and not bored by all the action they put you in, then they move you back to the beginning when your character joined the army and then everything start to settle in your head and you feel like you live the story with the character, very realistic as it can be for a screen + sounds + mouse + keyboard environment, very atmospheric and makes you want to continue the game to see what happened next in the story. Regarding the shooting mechanics, it's far from perfect, not the best controls I've seen, but it will do it for the story and effects you go through in the game. If you're looking for better controls you better play something like CS:GO, for a intriguing story and impressive effects - this game is a good fit. Very recommended!

An underrated classic

Medal of Honor Pacific Assault doesn't have as fond a reception as Allied Assault did, which is a shame as Pacific Assault does a lot of things well. The weapons handle well, the attention to detail is immense, and it has a large degree of authenticity in spite of the more game-y elements. The use of the squad Corpsman as the primary way to replenish health was a nice way of letting the player understand the importance of the squad rather than just shooting. The squad mechanics are fairly basic, and there are a few bugs and glitches here or there, mainly pertaining to some weird hitbox issues and animations, that show a slight lack of polish, but all of that doesn't detract from the feeling of actually being a Marine Raider fighting in the Pacific Theater of World War 2, and it's probably the best single player shooter that tackles this subject matter. As an aside, pick up the GOG version over the Origin version, as you require a DRM free version to properly customize resolution and change FOV.

Still better than Pearl Harbor

Pacific Assault is the middle of the road installment: Not to good, not to bad either. This makes it much harder to properly recommend, the Pacific theater is a great idea with so few other competitors and while the game's jungle and tropical enviros work well, you'll yearn for the varied complexity found in Allied Assault. The combat is alright, that's if you're A-OK with AAs slow pace of fighting ie two-three .308 rounds to the chest to take someone down. Unfortunately, your AI buddies seem to be brain dead chumps But hey, PA is a decent enough shooter that on sale might be worth picking up.

Black Sheep of the pack...

This game is the Black Sheep of the medal of honor pack In a good way if you ask me. It has a Holly-Wood style focus on big set piece scripted spectacles and a plot focused on the journey and feelings of the solders caught up in the pacific. However it varies by tying everything into a stronger narrative and having events narrated by a fairly good English voice actor. This one also relies on squad members, the game-play is more along the lines of a brothers in arms game. In that you usual have to use commands like suppress or assault to pin or distract enemies. So you can pick enemies off or flank them without dying. Guns can do allot of damage so you need to be more tactical. No run-&-gun here. I was pulled in by a solid narrative and kept playing because the engaging game-play.

Good but not great MoH

Pacific Assault seems to be like a mix of Brothers in Arms, Call of Duty, and Vietcong. We can give simple orders to our allies, call medic for help and live through a Pacific-war drama. MoH:PA is more realistic and dramatic than the others games from series; but on the other hand is less dynamic and awesome.
