Amazing
Mechwarrior 5 is simply amazing. For anyone unaware it is an action game with management and strategy elements based in the future where we have colonized the galaxy and fight in 100 ton mechs. The story is connected to Battletech lore as you progress through the timeline. As the lore goes, most wars take place through mercenaries. The lore is extensive, but you dont need to know it to enjoy it. In MW5 you can play the campaign or career and can play co op with a friend in both taking them on missions as a lancemate. The story is a pretty average vengeance story for a video game, but the Battletech lore story in the backdrop makes it amazing since it is so detailed. Its a sandbox with unlimited replayability. There are around 10 mission types with procedurally gen maps, but they are adding more and there are many mods that add content The gameplay is very much like the previous entry, MW4M. You have a merc company that you have to manage equipment, personnel, mechs, reputations, repairs, upgrades, all while traveling the galaxy looking for missions. Both the campaign and career offer substantial freedom to go where you want and do what you want. In the campaign you are forced into certain alliances and starting areas, but in career you can decide for yourself, but miss out on the campaign missions. The graphics and sound are excellent. I have not seen any glaring graphical bugs or glitches. It runs smooth on my mid to upper tier laptop from 2016 on high settings. The sound is phenominal, pairing with the graphics to create an immersive experience. My only complaints are the soundtrack, which is a form of rock, and Ryanna. The soundtrack isnt bad, it just doesnt have that epic feeling as the MW2 music had, just search for MW2 tracks and youll know what I mean. Ryanna talks a bit during missions and 99% of it is unecessary. This is a worthy successor to the series and theyre continually adding content. Battetech fan or not, I highly recommend it
