In the Time of the Ancients, the Worldly Realm was ruled by a God of pure evil, who enslaved all humankind under his Dominion. But fear turned to anger as rebellion grew in the hearts of men - until the dawn of the Great Rising, when the fight for freedom began. After a glorious victory that cast aside the Fallen God, humans dictated a new order... a world where no sin can ever be forgiven and redemption was not an option.
Now, millennia later, the world trembles in fear as the Demonic Rhogar Legion returns from their dark realm, driven by a foul hunger for innocent spirits. Humanity, in a desperate last act, calls upon an unlikely defender - a convicted sinner, rejected by society and cast out of the light... a man known as Harkyn. Now, alongside his mentor, Kaslo, they must travel to the source of the Darkness... to face the Lords of the Fallen.
Plunge into a fast paced action RPG with a complex and satisfying melee combat system where weapons, armor and skills directly influence the enemy's speed and attacks... if all else fails, lay waste to your foes using forbidden magic power.
Key Features:
Embark on an Epic Quest that spans both human and demonic realms
Confront the mighty Lords, generals of the Rhogar army
Explore a vast dark fantasy world
Make your choices wisely as they may seal your fate

This game is a clunky souls-like with an interesting atmosphere. The combat is very VERY slow so every move has to be calculated or else be severely punished. There are many things I enjoy about the game like the art style, the atmosphere, and the gritty vibe the game gives. The game falls flat in weapon choices, noticeable power scaling (you barely feel a difference as you level), voice acting, and lack of RPG choices. This is definitely a 1-playthrough kind of game. There's charm to it, but it's missing things that would make it a cult classic (like a memorable sound track). I think it's worth the buy on sale. I wouldn't see myself paying full price for it though.
The game is riddled with a multitude of contradicting design philosophies.
It's not that challenging, specially if you prioritize defense over offense, but the problem with this is that the base game's speed, character movement, attack movement, enemies, animations, pacing, etc. Is really, really slow as it is... so being a tad bit heavy in this game adds even more to that issue, effectively making the game feel horrible to play.
You can then do what I did, which essentially involves using very light armor, this is a good thing because it makes the game a bit more challenging, but balanced, but the issue with this is that after a while I started to notice other problems; it's as if, as soon as I "solved" the main issue, I could finally asses all the others that the game has.
For example, the game copies level areas, like literally copy and pasting towers and shorcuts, it also lackas a ton of enemy variety, not only with how they look, but also with how they work mechanically. Most of them are either ranged, or melee, and all of them do the same freaking attacks.
All the while I just kept thinking about how a lot of game devs miss what makes the Souls games great; those are games that I frankly think could work without most of its design core elements, like you could take away the challenge and the bonfires, and still you would find a compelling game, because their level design, art direction, gameplay mechanics, and concept is bar to none one of the greatest games ever had, is simple you play as a knight trying to fight monsters and the like, but it's wonderfully executed.
Here though? Is as if the game devs didn't even understood whether they were trying to make an RPG or a Souls like game... it got old quick, repetitive, uninspired, boring.
It's like you are using the chosen undead from darksouls I to challenge malenia from elden ring.
For first 2 bosses, it's kind of ok. Enemies have better status than player but I can handle it.
After that, the balance becomes totally broken.
FOR EXAMPLE, enemies with great shield is a nightmare for the pathetic player:
1. Want to break their guards? Ok there's multiple ways to do it. Smash multiple times, sprint with shield raise, or kick several times. The only effective one is sprint with shied, which is very weird. it even works with small shield. The other ways? Don't try because they're either too slow or lack of range.
2. Now you break the shield guard, but... you can never hit enemies because they recover faster than any light attack of player (unless you're using lightest weapons). You'll always end up beat on their shields, AGAIN.
3. So what about dodge and attack from behind? Oh no the player is so slow, you can hardly dodge any attacks, and the guy with great shield has lightning 3 combos to finish you in seconds. I tried to unequip all the armors, it did become faster to roll, but not faster than enemy's turning speed.
4. Wait you have magic? sorry it only damages less than 15% HPs of the enemy, and mana recovers slowly as hell in this game.
5. The only "effective" way is counter attack. Just run like a rat around the shield guy, and wait his charge. If you are lucky to get enough distance, start heavy attack immediately. If you calculate good enough it will hit enemy before he hit you. But remember, you must run away again because he will recover fast like hell. Repeat this until it's done.
The experience is quite similar to the boss fight of Dancer of DarkSouls3 with level 1 player and no weapon upgraded. I did it once but never want to do it again. But this shield guy is not even a boss!
I hope the developers/designers at least play their game once. Are you sure this is work as design?
Great soul game! For people like me who sucks with soul games, this is a great way to join to this type of games and have some fun, the level it's not to high, you'll still diying lots of time but learning curve it's much more easy. Graphics are good, sound good too, the story it's not the best one but also enjoyiable.
