In the Time of the Ancients, the Worldly Realm was ruled by a God of pure evil, who enslaved all humankind under his Dominion. But fear turned to anger as rebellion grew in the hearts of men - until the dawn of the Great Rising, when the fight for freedom began. After a glorious victory that cast aside the Fallen God, humans dictated a new order... a world where no sin can ever be forgiven and redemption was not an option.
Now, millennia later, the world trembles in fear as the Demonic Rhogar Legion returns from their dark realm, driven by a foul hunger for innocent spirits. Humanity, in a desperate last act, calls upon an unlikely defender - a convicted sinner, rejected by society and cast out of the light... a man known as Harkyn. Now, alongside his mentor, Kaslo, they must travel to the source of the Darkness... to face the Lords of the Fallen.
Plunge into a fast paced action RPG with a complex and satisfying melee combat system where weapons, armor and skills directly influence the enemy's speed and attacks... if all else fails, lay waste to your foes using forbidden magic power.

This is a Very Good Game. Please do not listen to the Dark Souls Fuq-boys. If yu want Dark Souls, go play Dark Souls. This is Lords Of the Fallen. Unlike Dark Souls, this game doesn't control like it's On Crack. Buy it and Love it but do not come here expecting to play Crap-Souls. This game stands on it's own feat. These are the same developers that did the Surge & I take Lords Of The fallen & The Surge Over any rubbish that comes from FROM SOFTWARE and their copy and paste series Crappy ports. called Dark Souls BUY IT!!!! & Please stop comparing this Game to Dark Souls. Because Dark Souls was not the first game of this Genre.
I hate games that have no character customization. I don't want to play an RPG as YOUR character, I want to play it as one I create. How am I supposed to care about your cookie cutter generic protagonist who might as well be a painted yellow line ?
As many others, I tried this game after playing through the Dark Souls series and wanting to try more of the same experience in the genre. Unfortunately, what you get with Lords of the Fallen is not that, but a very low quality, low polish and unsatisfying game.
Lords of the fallen has many sins that can be overlooked, such as the poor optimization, frame-drops and uninspired level design. I will say that I do like the overall aestethic of the game and I tend to enjoy the oversized armors and stylish demon design.
Unfortunately that's where the "ok" aspects of the game end.
Once you get into the meat of it you'll be faced with one of the most unsatisfying combat systems I've ever had the displeasure of trying out. You character feels heavy and clunky, your attacks have no impact behind them and enemies have way too much hp, chipping away at the hp of regular enemies is not enjoyable.
What is worse, you face a lot of enemies that simply do not play fair, with shields and tracking that makes it frustrating to fight, with attacks and effects that simply one-shot you, no telegraphs for special attacks all topped off with some frustrating camera controls (unfortunately a common sin in the genre).
On top of that, you get to play with some spells and abilities that while they do have some promise, are generally underwhelming and could be implemented better.
Eventually you'll be ploughing through the game realizing you're not doing it out of enjoyment but just to show the game that you can and that it's not worth it.
I got this game for free on Steam and I still regret having it in my library. Just avoid it.
It still has the "Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper" quote on Steam page with DRM-less release here. Like a human being wearing clothes for protection (or over-protection) and removing it without any opprobrium. Better to buy only to save GOG's surprise and love for it but not for the publishers.
