You're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Thrust into a raging civil war, you watch helplessly as invaders storm your village and slaughter your friends and family. Narrowly escaping the brutal attack, you grab your sword to fight back. Avenge the death of your parents and help repel the invading forces!
Story:
Bohemia – located in the heart of Europe, the region is rich in culture, silver, and sprawling castles. The death of its beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, has plunged the kingdom into dark times: war, corruption, and discord are tearing this jewel of the Holy Roman Empire apart.
One of Charles' sons, Wenceslas, has inherited the crown. Unlike his father, Wenceslas is a naive, self-indulgent, unambitious monarch. His half-brother and King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox, senses weakness in Wenceslas. Feigning good will, Sigismund travels to Bohemia and kidnaps his half-brother. With no king on the throne, Sigismund is now free to plunder Bohemia and seize its riches.
In the midst of this chaos, you're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.
Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia.
Massive realistic open world: Majestic castles, vast fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics.
Non-linear story: Solve quests in multiple ways, then face the consequences of your decisions.
Challenging combat: Distance, stealth, or melee. Choose your weapons and execute dozens of unique combos in battles that are as thrilling as they are merciless.
Character development: Improve your skills, earn new perks, and forge and upgrade your equipment.
Dynamic world: Your actions influence the reactions of the people around you. Fight, steal, seduce, threaten, persuade, or bribe. It’s all up to you.
Historical accuracy: Meet real historical characters and experience the genuine look and feel of medieval Bohemia.
A great historical rpg that makes you feel like you are in the middle ages. Spent over 100 hours on the game and the dlcs and wanted more. Definitely worth your time and money
I always dreamed of a first-person historic RPG with an uncompromisingly recreated historical setting. A game where reality inspires the game systems instead of recycled systems being shoehorned into a new setting. Well, my dream is here and I enjoyed it as much as I hoped.
This game is an Open-World RPG starring a humble blacksmith's son, Henry. It has an interesting story that is designed to give a sort of "medieval life tour". You'll attend executions, serve as man-at-arms for your liege lord, enter a Monastery, help alleviate pestilence, learn to read, and much more.
It also features a lovingly crafted world that is just a pleasure to explore. Instead of auto-generated landscapes, you see the hand of the designers in every corner of the dense forests, pastoral landscapes, humble towns and imposing castles.
It was fun to see the approach the developers took to showcase the diverse aspects of medieval life, the ways the weaved real history into a plausible plot, the winks and jokes at the expense of our foreknowledge, and so on. The developers evidently were making their dream game, and it shows in a myriad of subtle ways.
For me, the only true fault of the game are the numerous scripting bugs that affect its quests. The developers seem committed to fix them, but there are a lot of them.
Of course, there is room for improvement (e.g. in quest reactivity), but what the developers pulled off with their limited resources is nothing short of impressive.
Some notes:
- I found the controversial combat system quite excellent. Few games reproduce the physicality of combat as this one, as well as organically integrating it's many intricacies. Its faults are more a matter of implementation that wrong fundamentals.
- I loved the ending, but many didn't appreciate it because it's inconclusive.
- If you are an old-school player, do yourself a favor and play in Hardcore Mode. It sounds like an exercise in frustration, but you gain a lot in immersion and joy of exploration.
First off,
This game is almost lifelike.
I wish this is what my life's like.
Henry isn't always in the limelight.
Initially, he can't even write right
and he isn't very Knight-like.
But that exactly makes it all so lifelike.
You learn how to live your life right.
You can buy a book and learn to read and write right.
You can buy a sword and learn to fight right.
You can get a lass and learn to work your wife right.
Like you might slide right into your bride at night light.
Just enjoy the night life, go into a tavern and imbibe pride.
Just be careful so you ride right,
else you take a flight right
down a hill and die quiet.
Sadly, you can't fly, like
for example, if you hike high
drop 2 metres from a slight height
then you almost die right.
Your actions aren't always Christ-like.
But stealing makes your purse less light, right?
Just make sure to strike right
in the cover of the night light.
If you steal unjustified, right
the guard will be uptight, like
indict you at first sight, right.
The leasure games are a delight, like
shooting arrows into logs until they reach a dike, right.
You always must survive, like
Henry has no lack of appetite, right,
and he always wants to close his eyes, right,
he rarely is a satisfied guy.
This game is not what everybody and their wifes like.
But it may be what you might like.
For a total size of 60 Gigabyte, right,
I can say this game is quite good and I like the immersive elements, as well as the believable game world and well written characters.
Follow Henry.
There are some bugs. 10 outta 10 MASTERPIECE
Let me start off by saying that my favorite game in this genre is Skyrim, so some of my opinions will be based on a comparison of the two games. Kingdom Come: Deliverance (KCD) is a good game that I have enjoyed playing, but it does have some flaws.
The Good:
• Superb graphics that make the world look and feel very realistic. I have a fairly high-end PC (see below) and everything runs very smooth.
• Excellent story, dialogue, and voice acting.
• Some of the cut-scenes are quite enjoyable and help tell the story better than gameplay dialogue would.
• First-Person-View! This is a MUST-have for me in games like this. I want to be IN the world, not watch my character run around in it.
• I like the way fast travel is done. The chance of being ambushed along the way makes it more interesting.
The Bad:
• Too many cut scenes in the beginning. It felt more like I was watching a movie than playing a game. I was anxious to get out and explore the world!
• Lockpicking and Pickpocket are HORRIBLE! Skyrim did both so much better. Holding down the 'D' key causes the lock to rotate completely in about 2 seconds. I can't drag the gold ball with the mouse in a perfect circle in that short time.
• Stamina drain is almost a game-breaker for me. I can't get in more than one hit with a bow or sword if there is more than one opponent. Using the bow or sword drains stamina, then one or more enemies hit me which drains my stamina to zero, and then I'm killed.
• Melee combat is also horrible. I'm going to spend more time at the trainer, but if that doesn't help then I'm at the point where it's a game-breaker. As I said above, I rarely get in more than one hit on multiple enemies before my stamina is gone.
• No Replay Value. The main quest line is very linear, there's almost no character customization, and very little choice for combat skills (Bow or Melee).
