Game:

You're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Thrust into a raging civil war, you watch helplessly as invaders storm your village and slaughter your friends and family. Narrowly escaping the brutal attack, you grab your sword to fight back. Avenge the death of your parents and help repel the invading forces!

Story:

Bohemia – located in the heart of Europe, the region is rich in culture, silver, and sprawling castles. The death of its beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, has plunged the kingdom into dark times: war, corruption, and discord are tearing this jewel of the Holy Roman Empire apart. One of Charles' sons, Wenceslas, has inherited the crown. Unlike his father, Wenceslas is a naive, self-indulgent, unambitious monarch. His half-brother and King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox, senses weakness in Wenceslas. Feigning good will, Sigismund travels to Bohemia and kidnaps his half-brother. With no king on the throne, Sigismund is now free to plunder Bohemia and seize its riches.

In the midst of this chaos, you're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.

Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia.
  • Massive realistic open world: Majestic castles, vast fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics.
  • Non-linear story: Solve quests in multiple ways, then face the consequences of your decisions.
  • Challenging combat: Distance, stealth, or melee. Choose your weapons and execute dozens of unique combos in battles that are as thrilling as they are merciless.
  • Character development: Improve your skills, earn new perks, and forge and upgrade your equipment.
  • Dynamic world: Your actions influence the reactions of the people around you. Fight, steal, seduce, threaten, persuade, or bribe. It’s all up to you.
  • Historical accuracy: Meet real historical characters and experience the genuine look and feel of medieval Bohemia.

This game has soul

Yes, despite semi-regular crashes I'm still giving it 5 starts. You really need to install a 'savior-shnapps' mod (which allows you to freely save), though, as the crashing makes regular saving a must. I'm usually good for 2-4 hours, but still.... As for the game itself, I would say that from an RPG perspective this is honestly better than even Witcher 3. This is the first game I can remember where the story/character progression felt organic. The hooks were a little surprising but also not; things are *ordinary* in the way they must be in order to seem realistic. Combat can be very frustrating and that is a *good* thing. You have to learn, plan, know when to run away, train, etc. This is an area where I wish I didn't need the ability to save, however, so I would have been forced to work harder on combat. All in all it is a game that left me truly satisfied after playing it for many, many hour and finally beating it. I was sorry to be done with it, but felt like it was a well paced, proper length game. To continue the Witcher 3 comparison, I think it's significantly shorter if you include all the side missions, but in Deliverance I really wanted to do all of the side missions where in Witcher I really didn't after a while.

WOW

This is one of the best video games ever made. Probably the best game of this generation. No pc sjw rewriting of history here folks. As a history scholar I love this game. This is my favorite game developer right now.

Kingdom Come : ALMOST Deliverance

This could've been a great game, an amazing game even. However, it feels like it could use a year more of intense development. It feels unfinished, unpolished and wonky. It is filled with amazing ideas and mechanics that could've been great, if finished. The world is amazing, the story is interesting and captivating. The feeling that you're in a medival Europe is great. However all this is darkened by constant issues with the wonky mechanics, somewhat steep progression of your character and absolutely God awful performance. You start as a pesant with a wooden bat, then you can make your way to full-armor knight and still because of the wonky fighting mechanics a couple of pesants with their fists can beat the dust out of you.. or you can completely annihilate them, it's a coin-flip. The performance.. oh my the performance. It is by far the biggest issue in this game. Hardware that should have no problem with what this game offers on your screen is barely running 30FPS in some zones or fights on High. In a matter of fact, it behaves exactly the same on all settings, even the ultra. You will constantly struggle with terrible FPS no matter what hardware you get.

Best historical research on a RPG ever

I admit, since i have a degree in medieval history, i have appreciate this game quite a lot in its huge historical details that Warhorse Studios had dedicate to the game since 2012. At the same time, when the kickstarter was born i was so hyped as long scared that a huge project like this could see the light. Well, i'm really glad that that happened. I haven't seen a explaination code so accurate since Vietcong. And by the way, give it the graphical tone of a XV sec manuscript was even greater. Expecially in the woods. Despite all the know difects (and power) of Cry Engine (and its not friendly SDK), the whole graphical result of the game is simply astonishing developing an AAA graphic game made by an AA studio. Maybe the palette could be more vibrant, but it's nothing that a light reshade preset could fix. The game version i have played was 1.6. The only bug encountered was the missing dialogue with the olster before the horse race, with has been solved simply by sleep before talk to him. The gaming experience at begining it's cunning brutal (what do you expect? Henry it's a villager, not a natural born soldier), once level up it'll become a hard but fair challenge on 1 vs 1. On 1 vs 2/3, it'll be very hard even against starved angry farmers. An advice: choose the noble art of the thiefvalier. In some castles you could loose a lot of FPS, but overhall even if they go around 45 game is still fluid. Beware if you're a complestist like me, the game will took away from your life over 120 hours, but for me was totally worth it. Even the secondary mission got good dialogues and different approches to solve a mission. A rare thing in modern RPGs.

Get ready for Medieval immersion!!!

At first I wasn't sure what to think. When I first started to play it was a bit frustrating to learn the new kind of a game system...but oh boy was it worth it!!! Absolutely new kind of fighting system that is quite the challenge to start off with, but once you overcome the frustration of not being able to just click-click-click when fighting and having to time your blows accurately as well as where and when to strike is absolute brilliance! I shamefully will admit that I used speed cheats to get fast from place to place as well as infinite health so I'd be able to overcome every obstacle without having to think too much about loading a previous game and being able to enjoy the store more, but after finishing it I deeply regret having skipped on this part of immersion for the game. Even so, combat could be challenging and even though you are level 20 with good proficiency with weapong, you'll have a tough time rushing into combat with 3 good fighters and may very well lose if you don't think strategically enough. The game also has tons of historical information for history geeks like me and I've now learned way more of this time in medieval Europe than I ever knew before. The only comment I have about the game is that the vast majority of quests you undertake have no time limit and sometimes you'll accept a mission without it being clear enough that it will fail after a certain amount of time. Maybe somekind of a red marker on the listing with a countdown timer or something would be great. I clocked 150 hours WITH the speed hack and godmode, so you are in for days and days of amazing good fun for this game! Can't wait for Warhorse Studios to make a new game as they are indeed incredibly talented and they have gained a new fan in me!
