FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
Most people are complaining about the changes, but I for one welcome them. I'm not sure if in the changes made for a better or worse game than the beta version, all I know it's that it's a great game regardless.
I've almost racked up 1000 hours by this point, and I don't regret a minute of it. Gwent is a card game, but it doesn't feel like your just duking it out with another player. You're not slowly ramping up your mana until you can deal the knockout punch. It's combat, where often you have to lose the battle to win the war. It tests your mettle for tactics and strategy. Once you've gotten an understanding of the cards, you will find that you can beat much better decks by reading their game plan and out-manovering them. Can't recommend it enough.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is the best card game i have played.
It has many amazing qualitys to the game. A game thats focused on strategy and deck building rather than 50/50 RNG. Sound design is awesome, One of my favourite features is the entire interface which feels smooth and natural.
There are also regular patches to continue to change up the game to keep it feeling fresh and new. In a way keeping you on your toes... Highly reccomended to play for newcomers (friendly and easy to grasp) and for verterans (who want to give them self a challenge that feels fair every single time)
Pros:
-great strategic depth
-enough decks that play very diffrent
-solid gameplay
-best cardart out there
-beatiful premiums to collect
-BEST REWARD SYSTEM on the market (= very fair buisness model)
-cool leaders
-Awesome first SOLO expansion (thronebreaker) which rewards lots of points, cards and a fullfleadged RPG experience with an awesome story (costs 25euro for 40 hour campaign, around 20 gwent cards and 40+reward points (~25 packs?).
-CONSTANT IMPROVEMENTS AND A GREAT DEV-TEAM
Cons:
-small cardpool (yet)
-long/clunky animations between rounds
-some card balance problems (uninteractive artifacts and too much strong removal on units)
-last say round 3 can single handedly decide some matches
I actually played a bit of gwent before I even played the witcher series since my friends were all playing this. 8+ months later, I'm still playing it on a daily basis. If you like card games, especially ones that are really generous with free cards, give this a try!
