FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
A big appeal of TCG's is the art of the card and by censoring it makes less enjoyable. SO FAR it is only few things like jiggle physics and words here and there(from what i can see) but censorship is a slippery slope. The parts that are already censored is already to much.
The censorhip honestly makes me worried for other CPR games
It's a decently fun game when you're starting out. As long as you're a beginner and face starting and budget decks and people who are still learning to play. Once you get to a decently high rank all the fun starts to seep out as the game railroads you into facing "optimized" meta decks where you either play whatever is strong in the current patch or just lose over and over again. Tactic also kind of goes out of the window when you know exactly what cards your opponent has and can predict their next move with ~80% precision.
Overall I'm getting more and more disappointed in this game. 2.5 stars.
Just started the game after a few months and it took me 10 minutes to get to the actual gameplay as I had to get through numerous screens shoving "premium" down my throat.
It looks like the game was handed to a whole different, greedier, department. 25 dollars for a "premium experience" is what I expect from companies like EA, Activision or Zenimax.
Definetely not the Gwent which came out of CDPR, who said "We leave greed to others".
Ranting aside, the Beta was simple, self-explanitory, and fun. Now the game is overwhelmingly complicated. The initial interface complimented the game stylistically, now it just adds onto the overwhelming detail being shoved in your face on every sceeen.
Installed and uninstalled in less than 15 minutes.
The game is supposed to be a card game, with strategy. There is no!
To understand that, you just have to look at the ranking. The best players are not the ones who win more than they lose. The best players are the ones who play thousands games in a month.
The game has very good things, but all is destroyed by some unbalanced cards, updated months after months, but as one said in another comment, when they fix some unbalanced cards, some others appear at the same time.
I can also tell about the toss, which is everything but random. You can play 10 games in a raw without having the toss for you, knowing wining the toss is a big advantage.
So, save your time, don't play this game.
Even if you have a lot of time, save your mental health playing another game.
I played many card games. Played Yu-Gi-Oh when I was a kid, then because of my love for Warcraft, I played Hearthstone for years. Then because of my love for the Witcher, I started to play Gwent. At first I thought that how would I get those cards to make a decent deck but thanks to the generosity of Gwent, I made my first decent deck scond week. I realized I worked like a slave when I was playing Hearthstone and loved Gwent even more. At those times Rank 21 was the best rank and I was 20 (never hit 21, sadly) with my own deck. It amazed me that I didn't need to netdeck streamers to win.
After patches and the other stuff Homecoming came. At first I didn't like it, I wanted my old Gwent back. Like everyone else. But when I tried to like Homecoming, I realized that it is not different than the beta version at all. OK there are many changes, but after this last mulligan update it literally started to feel like old Gwent, with better graphics and rewards.
TL;DR: Gwent is the most generous card game on the market (literally got full collection and most of the premium cards without spending a penny), and you can play with your own deck instead of netdecking and still can win.
