Story driven RPGs that rewards diplomacy
Greedfall is a good RPG for you if you are in for the story, the characters and the political intrigue. From beginning to the end every quest delivers interesting develoments. You play to win allies not only battles. If you like to play RPGs which are more about being smart and subtle rather than hitting everything that moves you won't be disappointed. The acting, the setting and the music all contribute to create an immersive atmosphere. At the end of the game I grew attached to some of the characters and felt the weight of some difficult decisions (no spoilers!). All the factions and companions have compelling narratives and motives that keep you interested and make you want to follow through, The gameplay is just ok and the battles tend to be a bit boring compared to other action RPGs, but this is also probably something the developers didn't want to invest more. The interactions with objects are also pretty simple. Crafting is ok if you just want to upgrade some objects and brew potions, but it doesn't allow you to create armors or weapons from scratch. For me honestly this simplicity made sense because all these details that are better executed in other RPGs tend to distract more from the story and make you lose immersion, some people might find this annoying. It's not exactly an open world, but the maps are big enough that it gives you that feeling. Think of Dragon Age Inquisition with the right amount of density of stuff you can find in any given area.
