The game starts for a few seconds and then crashes. I play games like BG3 and Cyberpunk on Ultra. I've tried everything. I think the new drivers aren't compatible with the game at the moment, please update.
Good:
* Good Story
* Very few MMO-lite fetch quests
* Good graphics
* Good combat
* Unique setting
* Almost bug free with zero crashes
Bad:
* Average voice acting, contains really cringeworthy dialogue
* Exploration is limited
* Weapon variation is limited and repetitive
* Repetitive combat
* Limited variation in enemies
* Story drags on with far to much back and forth. Sometimes less is more.
* On normal difficulty the game gets really easy
The first thing to remember with this game is it isn't a AAA game, the developers have punched above their weight to give a AAA like experience. The developers appear to run a good ship to deliver a project of this size in the timeframe they have with the budget they have.
This game plays a little like Dragon Age 2 with a pause ability like dragon age origins. The world is broken up into geographic zones so it isn't open world, and you cannot go far of the path, and enemies spawn at the same point. You have the normal starting classes with magic, Range (with rifles) and Melee with your typical heavy tank and assasin like builds. I played through as the magic class. Skill trees are very limited with fairly boring options.
The setting is unique with a 16th century like world with magic and beasts in it. There are several factions that you can earn favour with and all factions are human, there are no non-human like races. The monsters are very limited in number, so once you are five or so hours into the game you have seen them all. A gripe for me is the factions feel largely the same with the exception of the native factioni - which to be honest are terribly done; they have the most cringe-worthy voices and although they have put alot of effort into the depth of the faction, it is very hard to get past their voices.
The story is good however drags on for too long (about 50 hours). I won't lie, by the end it became a chore but I stuck with it as I wanted to see the ending. I would rather they have cut of a few hours.
This game had way lower budget and smaller team than what it took to make the likes of The Witcher or AC Odyssey. But they still managed to achieve their goal and make a great experience, one you are not likely to forget. From the get-go it's obvious that they had to cut many corners: character models are akin to those in Skyrim or The Witcher 2 (both from 2011), some interiors and NPCs are copypasted and voice acting can (at times, although not always) be meh. But what they did get right is world building, setting, characters, story and quests. The world (despite not being seamless and consisting of multiple medium-sized hubs) can be astonishingly beautiful (although for some reason the devs opted to fill it with ugly brown filter - look up a decent ReShade preset to fix colors or poke me to get one), its landscapes breathtaking. Companion characters and main NPCs are well-written and believeable. The story is unpredictable and quite interesting and so are the quests that never have player be a delivery boy. Despite the game having its limitations. I enjoyed every second of it and wholeheartedly recommend it.
Pros
• Interesting story
• Unpredictable and well-written quests
• Believeable characters with interesting backstories
• Beautiful world (that need a ReShade to fix brown tint, but still)
• Rich leveling system
• Fun combat that (for me) never really got old.
Cons
• Poor character models
• Low variety in the world's fauna (which is still believeable, I guess)
• At times terrible voice acting (for the Natives faction - their accents are not believeable, but maybe it's just me)
• Use of copypaste in interior design (unavoidable for such a small team, but still a flaw)
Great game with interesting world and story arc, but has it's quirks. Compared to mass effect, witcher, gothic, this game is a similar, less open world ARPG from a smaller studio. 5/5 because I played and finished it, which is a bit unusual.
Pros - Good story, interesting factions and some characters, permanent look of disgust and anger on main characters face
Cons - Way too much running from point a to b, too much time in the bush parts of the island, story is a bit too clear cut, it would have been nice to invade and subjugate everyone as part of the story line.
Really enjoyed it, good characters, fun combat, interesting story and side quests but the ending is lackluster and left a bit of a sour taste after 58hr gameplay.
