New and Improved

Deluxe Edition Includes:
  • Artbook
  • Soundtrack
  • Rocket Star Corporation DLC

In a near future ravaged by wars, corrupt regimes and devastating pollution, influential corporations have created the Genesis program in a last-ditch attempt to save humanity.

As the Captain of a Genesis starship, you journey into uncharted space on the ultimate mission. Build and manage a space vessel, farm resources, deal with terrifying alien infestations, clone creatures and explore a vast, randomly generated universe.

Go Rogue

Huge, randomised galaxies ensure every run in Genesis Alpha One is unique. Choose one of three difficulties or tailor the game to your playstyle with the Custom Game Mode. Discover new planets, circumvent asteroid fields and survive encounters with the Mechanics and Framen, space pirates who will board your ship to destroy your ship and all its inhabitants. Death is the end and once all your clones are dead, the mission is over. However, you will carry through artefacts unearthed into your next playthrough as well as unlock new corporations, making you more powerful with each attempt.

Build, Upgrade, Explore

Starting with a small vessel, you’ll have to build and maintain an intergalactic ark by combining dozens of upgradable spaceship modules including crew quarters, workshops, hangars, clone labs and greenhouses.
Using an intuitive building menu, easily snap together the pieces of your ship to tailor it to your playstyle. Develop your vessel and then explore your creation in first person.

Battle Alien Infestations

Alien infestations can spread quickly, contaminating the ship and crew. It’s imperative to wipe them out before you become overwhelmed and your ship is destroyed. An arsenal of weapons and defences can be researched to help you fight the alien threat. Unleash an array of powerful weaponry, research alien diseases to heal your crew, equip new abilities and deploy warbots to devastate the alien hordes.

Clone and Create New Lifeforms

As your ship grows, so must your crew. Using ground-breaking cloning technology, your crew will expand to meet the needs of the ship.
Loot DNA samples from the aliens you encounter across the galaxy and splice them with members of your crew to give humanity a chance to prosper with abilities far beyond what was previously imagined.

Delve Deep Into Vastness of Space For Valuable Resources

In order to expand your ship and sustain your crew, you must explore planets fraught with danger. Gather elements such as Copper and Uranium and harvest plants to sustain life aboard your vessel. You may also find alien artefacts and intel from those explorers that have gone before, and not lived to tell the tale.

Suprised by this

Ok, 3.5 stars really (rounded it up as GOG won't let you give half stars), so that's a 7/10. There are a lot of bad reviews for this title, usually bad GOG reviews are more truthful / trustworthy than the 5-star raves, and I usually are over critical in reviews myself. But this was better than I first set myself to expect, once I got into it I was enjoying it. It basically is trying to be a very simplified No Man's Land........ and that's where it does fall flat for many, it's too simple, it's early 1990s level complexity, with 2010 level 3d graphics. Give it a proper chance though, and you may find yourself really getting into it like I did. Full price? Oh dear, HELL NO! £24! FAR TOO HIGH! Wait for a good sale...... which you always do, right? Me? I was one of the lucky ones who caught it when on a free offer! Yes, if I'd spent £24 on this, I'd be probably be giving a 1 or 2-star review here!!!!!

Linux Review

Works perfectly on Wine with DXVK installed through winetricks. The premise of the game is interesting. You manage a spaceship and it's crew, go on away missions to get resource to build up your ship while fighting off aliens. It's like Duskers meets Deep Rock Galactic. The bloom effects in this game are cranked up to 11. Every light source is brighter than the sun and there's no way to turn it off in the graphics settings. On planet missions, once your ship cargo is full, your AI companions will head straight back to the dropship. I'm still out here looking for an artifact site, why can't I order them to follow me? Your ship has a chance to get infested with aliens. The game doesn't tell you this, nor does it tell you where said infestations are. Your AI crewmates will not make any effort to combat it either, so have fun crawling below decks looking for critters. The player can do tasks in room of the ship; tractor beam in loot, refine planet materials into crafting materials, etc. You can assign AI crewmates to rooms to carry out these tasks instead. There's two major flaws with this system: 1. You can't assign crew duties from a menu or interface. You have to physically travel to the room and assign them while you're in there. Why is there no "crew management" menu or something that could do this? 2. The player can do the tasks substantially quicker than the AI. You have to go to each room anyway to assign AI, so you might as well just do it yourself while you're there! You get a pistol with infinite ammo. If you're remotely competent at shooting games, you won't need any other weapon in the game. Also why can I bring AI on planet expeditions but not when boarding spacecraft? I played about four hours of this game before I finally calling it quits. Go play Duskers instead. It has a similar premise, but much more polished than this garbage and it's cheaper.

3 1/2 stars

I got this game through amazon games and am enjoying it so far. Its not perfect but it is very fun. The game does feel unfinished to some degree but if the developers do a few updates then this game could accomplish something great. Its a unique take for a FPS/Sandbox. You collect DNA to clone your crew while gathering the resources to sustain your crew. You get to build and plan out the build of your ship with some limited customizations. It takes some strategy on building your ship where everything is fairly close to each other. Small but crucial tip, make sure you have a good pinch point where you can better fight the infestation. The game doesnt have much of a story to it but gives you a randomly generated world with lots to do. If you aren't afaid to try something new then buy this game. Its probably best to buy on sale. I wouldnt spend more than $20 for the game at this point.

love it but would suggest a few things

it's a really great game that can really suck you in. but i do feel the reactor limit is a bit low, have found that on occasion it buggs a bit, and would of liked to be able to have a larger map. they could of done more with the merchents too. i think it has a lot of room to expand upon the base concept and game it is so far and could of used more bata testing but it is a really great game. i'm not sure if i like or dislike that with the merchents it's a pure barter system rather than having any sort of currency as that does add another element of gameplay and resource management in making sure you don't hoard too many resources with the penenty there being runnning out of space to put them and not being able to sell them off to free up more space. but i hope they make expansions for this game and/or sequils as it's a good game with a lot of potential.

Fun In Space

Okay, I am a sucker for good science fiction in a game; I am also willing to learn. I have a lot to learn while I'm playing this one lately; but I made it through the tutorial, 'died' once or twice afterward: the game plays fine on my Win 10 i5 with an older Nvidia card. Even veteran strategists say this one's tough; but an immersive environment helps keep my interest and concentration, and this one does the trick. I've paused for a bit, after the tutorial, before I start placing more turrets and 'killing' more things, but I'm looking forward to playing some more. One thing a bit unclear, Others have mentioned: at a point one is supposed to take a turret for the first time, they are in a cabinet to your right from the machine you will be standing at; a darkened corner, I did not find at first and was not mentioned. You can also speed the process of their manufacture from a terminal in the same room. Another, 'not easy, but worth the effort' I like to try, and I recommend with three stars; and I think to wait for a sale. I would give four stars at a lower price, as it seems rather experimental both to develope and to play. Lol. But I am enjoying it, since I bought this on sale: THANKS GOG! :-)
