New and Improved

Deluxe Edition Includes:
  • Artbook
  • Soundtrack
  • Rocket Star Corporation DLC

In a near future ravaged by wars, corrupt regimes and devastating pollution, influential corporations have created the Genesis program in a last-ditch attempt to save humanity.

As the Captain of a Genesis starship, you journey into uncharted space on the ultimate mission. Build and manage a space vessel, farm resources, deal with terrifying alien infestations, clone creatures and explore a vast, randomly generated universe.

Go Rogue

Huge, randomised galaxies ensure every run in Genesis Alpha One is unique. Choose one of three difficulties or tailor the game to your playstyle with the Custom Game Mode. Discover new planets, circumvent asteroid fields and survive encounters with the Mechanics and Framen, space pirates who will board your ship to destroy your ship and all its inhabitants. Death is the end and once all your clones are dead, the mission is over. However, you will carry through artefacts unearthed into your next playthrough as well as unlock new corporations, making you more powerful with each attempt.

Build, Upgrade, Explore

Starting with a small vessel, you’ll have to build and maintain an intergalactic ark by combining dozens of upgradable spaceship modules including crew quarters, workshops, hangars, clone labs and greenhouses.
Using an intuitive building menu, easily snap together the pieces of your ship to tailor it to your playstyle. Develop your vessel and then explore your creation in first person.

Battle Alien Infestations

Alien infestations can spread quickly, contaminating the ship and crew. It’s imperative to wipe them out before you become overwhelmed and your ship is destroyed. An arsenal of weapons and defences can be researched to help you fight the alien threat. Unleash an array of powerful weaponry, research alien diseases to heal your crew, equip new abilities and deploy warbots to devastate the alien hordes.

Clone and Create New Lifeforms

As your ship grows, so must your crew. Using ground-breaking cloning technology, your crew will expand to meet the needs of the ship.
Loot DNA samples from the aliens you encounter across the galaxy and splice them with members of your crew to give humanity a chance to prosper with abilities far beyond what was previously imagined.

Delve Deep Into Vastness of Space For Valuable Resources

In order to expand your ship and sustain your crew, you must explore planets fraught with danger. Gather elements such as Copper and Uranium and harvest plants to sustain life aboard your vessel. You may also find alien artefacts and intel from those explorers that have gone before, and not lived to tell the tale.

Nice idea but needs some serious work

The basic gameplay idea is great: Explore a huge universe which is procedurally generated, gather resources, upgrade and expand your ship and crew, land on planets and kill aliens etc. - you know the drill. To keep it interesting with the resources you gather you get the chance of an alien infestation on the ship which you then have to fight. So far so good. But here comes the problem: You have no way to tell where on your ship infections have established nor does your crew fight it on it's own. So it is your job to frequently crawl through all corners an listen for the alien crackling. And that gets old really quickly. Another problem is, that the infection can destroy parts of your ship. If this happens to be your ressource storage or your biotank you are screwed. The first you need to build more ammunition, the other you need to heal yourself. If you die you jump to control another crew member but if they are all dead you are screwed again. On top, this game does not tell you anything. Are there any broken energy modules? Nope, not gonna tell ya! Is there any alien motion detected on the ship? Nope, not gonna tell ya! What do I need to build to automate ammo production? Heck if I know! The map would have been a great place for all that info, but nope! And your crew is just incompetent. They shoot like a blind man after a stroke. You can assign them to automate things, i.e. in the refinery. But they barely do accelerate anything. As soon as you do it yourself it only takes a few seconds where they take minutes. It is so frustrating! All in all not worth any more of my time. More polishing could have done wonders but I think the devs have stopped working on this one.

What if No Man's Sky had a point?

Genesis Alpha One is a horror-flavored sci fi game about a crew of human clones on a growing space ship exploring a dangerous distant galaxy to find a new eden for humanity. It's a first person management game where you control the captain of a corporate-sponsored exploration ship, building it up piece-by-piece, cloning then assigning crew members to run stations independently, occasionally exploring the surfaces of planets to find new ship component blueprints, but mostly grabbing your gun and dealing with whatever threats invade your ship before they tear it apart. The Alpha One galaxy is thick with hostile lifeforms, and every time you bring resources onto your ship, there's a risk some kind of alien stowed away on it. When this happens, at least at the beginning, it's your job to check every nook and cranny of the ship to eliminate the intruders. This is where the horror elements come in, because like the Nostromo in the movie "Alien," every room in your ship has a dark cramped ductwork section underneath where the aliens love to hide out and lay eggs. The damage they do to the ship causes spooky steam leaks, vision obscuring life support failures, flame sprays, and other problems that make it even harder for you to spot them lunging for you in the dark. Let the problem get too bad and entire sections of the ship could literally explode and if you happen to be in one of them, you could be sucked out the hull and spin away into space. As much as I love the game, the downsides include the game being very dry, with your crew almost entirely lacking personalities, and the plot being minimal. When landing on a planet you're confined to a square area around your ship with clearly marked borders. And when aliens get onto your ship they oftentimes just pop into being without any animation of them jumping off the lander's hull or out of a load of ore. UE4 effects can't hid this game's indie origin. It's a wonderful exploration/horror game, and I recommend it!

Survival game with tons of potential

An ambitious roguelike-FPS-management-tower defense game. Normally when you mix this many elements it can easily turn into a half-baked mess, but here it comes together into a satisfying gameplay loop, as long as you don't mind repetition. I wish I could write an indepth review, but because of the character limit, I'll condense it into bullet points. Good: - Spacebase construction is awesome. You really get a lot of options for how to customize your base for security. You also get a full refund on demolishing rooms, so you can experiment as much as you like. - Playing as the commander and managing everything yourself means the gameplay loop is pretty varied, with base construction, fighting, crew management, exploration and resource management. - Decent selection of weapons, both projectile-based and hitscan. - Tons of unlockables add a lot of replay value. Bad: - Early-game aliens are hardly a threat once you know what to expect from them during resource harvesting. You can set up your harvesting ops to be like a big bug zapper, with no room for escape. This contributes to the repetition a lot of people complain about. - In my playthrough, I managed to win just as I was entering what felt like the mid-game. Though this was probably a fluke, and you can customize the win requirements on game startup. - Repetition. Now personally I have a high tolerance for this, but I can definitely see why a lot of players come to dislike the gameplay loop. Most roguelikes light a fire under your *** to keep moving, and throw all kinds of random events your way. Here, the dominant strategy is to work slowly and meticulously, minimizing risks as much as possible, and there's a lot less RNG. To summarize, the game made a hell of a first impression on me, but the lack of challenge did start to wear me down. That said, I'm jumping straight into a second run with higher difficulty settings and I hope future updates will make the gameplay live up to its potential.

Perhaps not for everyone

But definitely for me. Action, strategy, upgrades, exploration, resource collection, plasma weapons, spaceships, I like all of these words. I like inspecting a ship I built up from scratch and checking every corner for aliens. I like shooting those aliens when I find them. I like cloning new crew based on the DNA of those aliens. I like finding artifacts and research and resources on planets. Yes, this is an indie game. The production values are lower, the sandbox isn't as infinite as some modern sandboxes, the away missions only have small 2x2 maps in Mass Effect 2 style. If any of those is an objection for you, you should pass or wait for a sale.

Was surprised,it's a good game.

Game has a whole 1970's sci-fi feel to it, Not just Alien, but Outlands, The Black Hole and a few more I don't remember. It's a pretty cool base building rougelike/rougelite , I personally like rougelikes and this one has a personality of it's own. I recomend this game if you like basebuilding, crew management, exploration and rougelikes.
