Fallout: London

Fallout: London is by far one of the greatest passion projects I have seen in the past few years. A lot of teams are not capable of what Team FOLON has done today and they deserve my respect and others for it. They've worked incredibly hard and have been showing their work close par to that of an AAA Developer. With passion projects there are some cons that required to be discussed. I am currently 40+ hours into the game and I have about 10-20+ hours in fixing the game. PROS Story: The Story is fantasticly written, probably better than what Bethesda has put out throughout the years and I am driven to continue the main story, but ultimately get distracted very easily by the minor (side)stories in Fallout: London. Gameplay: While you would be expecting the game to be not much different in Fallout 4 gameplay wise it has greatly in FOLON. Fun guns, fun enemies and fun challenges! Audio: The audio specifically created is good, you will be immersed into the world. Landscape: Great, adaptive and ultimately one of the best world creation I have seen in any Fallout game CONS: Installation: While it is being told your installation is that of a click of a button this is simply not true. The installation process is awful, does not work and you have to apply many workarounds to even make the game function. Bugs: There are minor bugs that will definitely halt your playthrough, but also story breaking bugs that will pull you right out of the immersion. Broken Pathfinding, Broken Audio, Broken Quest-items.. The amount of work you have to do inside the console can be very tedious. Frequent Crashes: Team FOLON will tell you no mods are required to fix their game. You certainly will. The game in it's entirity should have been proof-tested, because there's way too many crashes and game-breaking bugs to fully enjoy Fallout: London. 2/5: While there is great potential there is a lot of work to be done. I wish the Team and the devs much luck. Thank you for making this.

I get that there are plenty of people out there playing it without issues (or minor issues) but I've literally tried everything. Different computers, different operating systems, every fix in the book and nothing works without it crashing about 5-10 minutes in. I was incredibly excited to play this, but until the dev team actually gets this into a playable state without having to diagnose and trial and error so many workarounds, its a huge pass from me.

Since I have the stema version of GOTY edition of Fallout 4, it is extremely hard to make this game work with the Steam version. You have to downgrade the Steam version of Fallout 4, but the downgrader doesn't work 90% of the time, so you can't downgrade Fallout 4. You can try to do it manually, but it is very easy to mess up thus, the creators of Fallout London do not reccommend it downgrading Fallout manually. If they fix the downgrader, hey be my guest to play this game. However, once you do get past the downgrader and loading screen issue, there is the constant game crash and FPS issue that youa re faced with. Overall, wait until they fixed everything as this project is still early in its development.

GOG is a real one with the games they've put on their stores like Alpha Protocol and Fallout London. Fallout London is the problem: 1) All the steps to even get it installed properly if you aren't on GOG. Their automated downgrader wasn't working soI had to manually do it. 2) In the first hour I had 5 exterior loads. 2 worked, 2 were infinite load screens, and 1 was a crash to desktop. 3) There's a chance Problem #2 is happening because of Problem #1, but there's a real chance that without the mods from Fallout 4 there's a lot of bugs have returned. I've already dealt with launch Fallout 4's buggy launch to want to deal with this. Save yourself the trouble. It's probably a good game. But it's way easier to just play Fallout 4 with a stable modlist.

The mod would be fine if it wasn't so poorly optimized. Like right out the gate there has been multiple CTD (crash to desktop) problems and just poor performance from many people. The installation process even has issues not even joking. Lot's of reports of installs failing from people with fresh installs of Fallout 4. I'm honestly not sure how the mod made it through the testing phase of development if there really was one to begin with. I came into this mod with optimism but I now regret knowing how badly this has flopped. I'm well aware that some of the developers care for the mod (I've seen they've been helping people try to get it to run.) however it just didn't get enough time to polish it. I have also been informed from other project developers that FOLON may have been using other peoples mods without permission and or credit. I really hope that isn't the case but I know them to be honest. (other teams) Seriously hope that the mod gets sorted out and fixed but first impressions from me and many others it's not very promising. Please do this project justice, please let people have a good experience.
