Description
One fateful night, Rufus awakes from a haunting nightmare: he sacrificed himself to save Deponia. But at what price? Elysium, the floating city crash-landed on the planet. As the last surviving Deponian, he fought savage fewlocks, but in the end, there was only one way out: He had to blow up Deponia! And... He grew a mustache.

Of course he realized that these gruesome events - especially the mustache part - had to be prevented from ever happening. Deponia and his well-shaved face had to survive!

But was this really just a dream? With the help of McChronicle, a quirky temporal scientist, who discovered strange time-anomalies, Rufus discovers that some time travelers from the future carelessly parked their time machine in his neighborhood. Just imagine if this amazing technology would fall into the wrong hands!

Dive right into this frantic sequel of the Deponia cult-trilogy and join the chaotic anti-hero Rufus on his most peculiar adventure. Even without knowing the previous installment, the hilarity of Deponia Doomsday will have you cracking smiles and burst with laughter.

Get enthralled by the bizarre humor and the uniquely designed world and enjoy the largest and longest Deponia adventure of all time.

Self-Invalidating

Worst of the bunch; hands down. Sure, this had some great laughs - probably more than any other game in the series - but it introduced time travel. Time travel comes with loops that make you repeat long segments all over again. You also sometimes have a time limit to get through the moon logic puzzles or be forced to start them from the beginning, and they love to waste your time with long dialogue that can be skipped and long animations that cannot. On top of it all, the ending renders the entire plot of the game completely pointless. The game only exists because players didn't like the original ending of the series, and while that does leave the main plot unresolved, this starts out by making it crystal clear that this is developer sour grapes in the form of a game, and that makes much better punishment than entertainment. And so it did; this was a long struggle with a big middle finger to the player at the end, topped with some half-assed philosophy that was a thinly-veiled jab at anyone who didn't like the third game's ending.

A swansong to the haphazard hero Rufus

Deponia Doomsday is a swansong to the intrepid clumsiness of one Rufus…intrepid inventor and cataclysmic disasterer and a last chance to return to the loveable stench of a Garbage Heap that is named Deponia. Doomsday has all the familiar point n click mechanics, ability to look at or interact with objects or characters, combining objects into nefarious contraptions that only the ruthless mind of Rufus could devise and exploration (with additional highlighting at the touch of a button) of some of the strangest places that exist throughout the chronoverse. And here of course is where Daedalic has always excelled, walking a careful balance between puzzles so outré they are unsolveable, and so logical that they become a walk through the park err … trash heap. There are a few additional minigames that vary the pace a little bit, from navigating an old style 2d dungeon in search of the elite ring of women claiming, to rotating options on a genocidally bent computer, they can be frustrating and amusing but always interesting to work out. It seems Doomsday has toned back a little on some of the punchier humour that was the trademark in earlier titles, and whilst I wasn’t particularly fond of that humour myself, I did find that the game lacked an atmosphere and edge that it had previously held quite well due to the presence of its a-political stance. It is a pity to see that it has been lost. As mentioned the chance to revisit familiar friends and learn about a few new people along the way keeps the world fresh. The old characters are often revisited so quickly though that you don’t really feel entirely engaged to them and the new characters vary from very memorable to rather forgettable. Deponia Doomsday is well worth a try. It is an excellently constructed game with wonderful design and attention to detail. Although it may be slightly disappointing to those who had played through the previous games.

Just awful

I'd forgotten how truly awful this game was. Is. Will be. It dragged on and on, it completely invalidates all of your wonderful adventures in the previous games. For me, this game not only invalidates the games and the journey, but also my efforts, my time and yes, even a little piece of my soul. If you enjoyed the first 3 games- even if the ending pissed you off- avoid this game. It will make you truly furious

Well done, too often misunderstood.

This, the fourth installment of Deponia really does something to you. Let me be straight: this is only for fans and the series should be played from first to third in german language (!) and if you like the games then get this - no matter if you liked the ending or not, get this fourth one if you like and love the characters. Switch to english language once, right before you enter the love tunnel - the singer is awesome. Spoilers ahead: Rufus is a great 'antihero' (thats the term). His heroism in Deponia 3 leads to a lot of sad fans who are way too much in love with the pretty dull concept of 'Holywood Endings' and I am glad we got a real ending to the Deponia 1-3 series. But why Deponia 4 - besides the financial aspect of a company having struck a hit with its series? Well, as I mentioned there was a lot of complaining about the ending of the third part and Daedalic/Poki really did something awesome here: they are playing with the gamer's emotions towards the series and the characters! How do they do that? Well, they throw you right back before Deponia 1 even starts and let you mess it all up with a time mashine - thanks, McChronical. It is a great journey, letting you explore more of the characters, but it never hits that development as it did in the first three parts, and rightly so! They will let you take Rufus and Goal on a crazy ride, but other than that there are not that many helpers around and they dont build up a crew. And they will also show you that without all the advantures Rufus and Goal had in Deponia 1-3 they would never have fallen in love - their romance doesnt work otherwise. There is only one thing that Poki concedes to the fans: in the end Goal has the memory of everything that happend in the time loop and she gets the chance to let go off Rufus, to say goodbye. She mentions this in the outro that by doing this she regained hope that she had lost before - that is a little happy ending for Goal and I like this subtle, but great twist.
