Description
One fateful night, Rufus awakes from a haunting nightmare: he sacrificed himself to save Deponia. But at what price? Elysium, the floating city crash-landed on the planet. As the last surviving Deponian, he fought savage fewlocks, but in the end, there was only one way out: He had to blow up Deponia! And... He grew a mustache.

Of course he realized that these gruesome events - especially the mustache part - had to be prevented from ever happening. Deponia and his well-shaved face had to survive!

But was this really just a dream? With the help of McChronicle, a quirky temporal scientist, who discovered strange time-anomalies, Rufus discovers that some time travelers from the future carelessly parked their time machine in his neighborhood. Just imagine if this amazing technology would fall into the wrong hands!

Dive right into this frantic sequel of the Deponia cult-trilogy and join the chaotic anti-hero Rufus on his most peculiar adventure. Even without knowing the previous installment, the hilarity of Deponia Doomsday will have you cracking smiles and burst with laughter.

Get enthralled by the bizarre humor and the uniquely designed world and enjoy the largest and longest Deponia adventure of all time.

Another bad ending and repeated puzzles

I wonder what's wrong with the guys at Daedalic, because the ending of this episode is IMHO even worse compared to the ending of part three. What's wrong with a lucky end? Why do all your adventrues have such tragic ends? (It's the same with Edna / Harveys new eyes etc.) Or did you just try to be funny on the customers that complained about the sad end of part three? If so, I'm sorry, but you failed... Also the game suffers of quite a lot bugs that sometimes forces one to re-load an older savegame (missing click-points when interrupting cut-scenes or too fast running timeouts). Some of them are known for over a year now and still haven't been fixed. IMHO the idea of the time-loops and the resulting clicking against the clock is a bit overused here. Practically the puzzles are repeated again and again while only a tiny bit changes. This is somewhat cool if it happens a few times in a game, but unfortunately this takes 2/3 of the whole gameplay. Sorry, Daedalic, but it feels like you did not really enjoy making this part of the series. So maybe it would have been better to leave the end open after part three.

Not for the casual fans I guess

I don't think this was a good addition to the world of Deponia. I replayed the triolgy before I started this new part, so I have all four games in recent memory, which didn't help me enjoy this one. The atmosphere in the fourth is very different, and it casts a weird light on the familiar stuff. The old characters act and talk very differently, to the point when it is really hard to imagine that the same people wrote this game as the first three. It feels more like a fanfic. The jokes are very different, which I guess is not necessarily bad, but they rarely made me laugh. The puzzles were fine, though in some places they didn't feel as polished as in 2 and 3. I got stuck a few times on parts that should have been trivial with better signalling. The story by itself is not bad. The animations were smoother, and I didn't get any performance issues like in the first three parts. Since I'm not really into adventure games, I wouldn't have wanted to play this game, if it wasn't for the Deponia franchise that I used to love for it's peculiar humor and atmosphere. I was hoping to get that same experience again, but was sadly disappointed. If you like adventure games in general, go for it - if you are only in it for Deponia, stay away.

Slap in the face to fans

No point. And even the ending of the third game is full of holes. Yeah I understand time loops to 900 million ways. Hopefully we'll wake up and the last two , especially up to the point of the needle in the chest is just Goals dream or nightmare. Rufus who survived just about several falls from points way up in the sky done in by falling from space. Yeah right.

Deponia jumped the shark

While Goodbye Deponia's ending left people divided and disappointed, it worked for the most part. Because ultimately it's irrelevant whether an ending is happy or sad, as long as it makes sense, has some emotional weight and is memorable. Enter Doomsday, which takes the original ending, turns it on its head and... well... does nothing with it. The game leads nowhere, it doesn't develop anything, and most definitely doesn't offer any creative gameplay and riddles its predecessors became famous for (especially Chaos on Deponia). It really feels unnecessary and forced, flat and uninspired. The only redeeming qualities of Doomsday are its audio and visuals. Voice actors did fantastic job, as always. Locations and characters are beautifully drawn and animated. I wish writers did half as good job as graphic and sound designers, because maybe then the game would be at least somewhat entertaining. If you're a fan of the series, pick Deponia Doomsday up when it's significantly discounted. Otherwise stay away and buy a good point & click game instead. Maybe the original Deponia, maybe A New Beginning? These are great and by no means try to jump the shark.

The most likeable Rufus of them all

Rufus in Doomsday is much nicer than in the previous ones, and actually apologizes a lot for Goal. All of that does not make much sense because of what we have learned about him in the 3rd part, but nonetheless it makes him a lot more likeable. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the ending, just like there was nothing wrong with the ending of the 3rd. The puzzles are logical in a Deponian way, and should not cause you too much trouble. Some other reviewers rage about a certain puzzle midway, but you get EXPLICIT instructions on what you have to do, so just damn follow them... Then again, I thought the music puzzle in the 2nd (or 3rd?) was brilliant... Also, there is a lot of trolling of those "fans" who complained about the ending of the 3rd, which just makes it all the more fun.
