Description
One fateful night, Rufus awakes from a haunting nightmare: he sacrificed himself to save Deponia. But at what price? Elysium, the floating city crash-landed on the planet. As the last surviving Deponian, he fought savage fewlocks, but in the end, there was only one way out: He had to blow up Deponia! And... He grew a mustache.

Of course he realized that these gruesome events - especially the mustache part - had to be prevented from ever happening. Deponia and his well-shaved face had to survive!

But was this really just a dream? With the help of McChronicle, a quirky temporal scientist, who discovered strange time-anomalies, Rufus discovers that some time travelers from the future carelessly parked their time machine in his neighborhood. Just imagine if this amazing technology would fall into the wrong hands!

Dive right into this frantic sequel of the Deponia cult-trilogy and join the chaotic anti-hero Rufus on his most peculiar adventure. Even without knowing the previous installment, the hilarity of Deponia Doomsday will have you cracking smiles and burst with laughter.

Get enthralled by the bizarre humor and the uniquely designed world and enjoy the largest and longest Deponia adventure of all time.

A polarizing swansong

(no spoilers) I'd like to start by saying I am a big fan of the series, as you can tell from my avatar. I liked the humour, character development, the plot, the music and the art of the series, though it possibly is uneven in places. As you might see from the other reviews, this installment is a very divisive one. Given the ending of Deponia 3, many hoped for the next part of the game, which Daedalic delivered three years later. The game has a noticeably more sombre atmosphere than the previous three parts, and it is downright depressive at times. Music is okay (not the best), but the title track is well executed and delivers Poki's (the game director) point. The story here is convoluted as it plays with time mechanics, sometimes too hard. Many say play in in German, but I actually like the English voices better (they were done by professional voice actors too) as they seem to reflect age and personality better. Poki sings in English well too (remember the rapping part in Deponia 3?). My main gripe is this game does not give real closure (even Deponia 1 had it better), it essentially ends with a cliffhanger and I understand people who are sour with it.

Not Much Reason To Exist

Although I did enjoy the game and I am happy to see my favorite Deponia characters again this game feels entirely unnecessary. I'm a rare kind of person, the kind of person who actually enjoyed Goodbye Deponia's ending despite the negative response recieved by most of the fanbase when Goodbye Deponia released. I felt like this game was made entirely to please those who didn't enjoy the ending of Goodbye Deponia but I ended up being wrong. The story ultimately adds nothing to the original troligy in terms of plot progression and only serves to give a little more closure to the original ending. This whole time I was dreading the retconning of the original series through this game and is exactly why I put off playing it for this long but honestly I would of preferred that over just how pointless the plot actually is.

Great game, but linux-installer fails

LIB "libpng12.so.0" is missing on newer linux systems. Installation OK, but the game won't start properly. To fix this on debian based systems, do: open shell ~# mkdir temp123 ~# cd temp123 ~# wget http://ftp.ebian.org/debian/pool/main/libp/libpng/libpng12-0_1.2.50-2+deb8u3_amd64.deb ~# dpkg-deb -x libpng12-0_1.2.50-2+deb8u3_amd64.deb . ~# cp lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpng12.so.0.50.0 "$HOME/GOG Games/Deponia 4 Doomsday/game/libs64/libpng12.so.0" ~# cd .. ~# rm -rf temp123

Rufus is and always will be a moron.

If you can get past the complete (and I mean total) unlikeability of the main character you will find moderately entertaining puzzles that will become hard only when they make absolutely no sense at all. They are either standard adventure game puzzles or so completely devoid from logic that you might as well randomly try things or look up the answer play through guide because the answer will make no sense. The story telling is OK. But it is severely hampered by the main character being a complete, utter, and unrepentant moron. Though I suppose you'd have to know you were a moron to repent for it and he is too dumb to realize it. He is also just plain mean. Not in a comedic way either. The qte events are also very annoying. Other than the qte events everything I mentioned also applies to the other games in this series. The visuals are OK, the sound and music are nice but everything else is junk.

Harsh Reviews for a game i loved.

I found people quite hard on the game here, maybe that's because they are a lot more experienced point & click player than in say... Steam... but still, i found it too bad since Deponia is really a serie i learned to love as much as those old LucasArt game i grew up with. So yeah, this is mainly why i post this review even if i'm not used to. I found the game actually quite well designed. How to add another portion in a trilogy of game which have already quite a conclusion ? With time travel ! And since the main element is "time" that mean the creator on Deponia could go all out with that. Alternative Future, Frozen Time, Time Portal, Alternative Self, name it, you have it ! And of course, there is Time Loops. It's quite talked in reviews for being annoying and repetitive but i found that there were not that much of them, the final puzzle must be the only one where there could be "too much thing" but other than that, i was just impressed about how many creativity there were in there ! From a story standpoint, well, we could argue that it doesn't add anything to the excellent end of Deponia 3 but i find it quite cool by itself and a given ending for a time travel story... But i won't say more. So yeah, it's not that often that a fourth episode of a trilogy is that good, there is a lot of crazy situations with a lot of humor (still quite depressing a lot of time actually...) which is why i liked Deponia to begin with... PS : Yeah limited time for making action are annoying... But again, it's not too often and since you can save whenever you want, i didn't find that too annoying either.
