I am writing this under an appreciable mental strain, since by tonight I shall be no more.
Dagon is a 3D narrative experience in madness based on the cult short story of the same title by the master of cosmic horror and weird fiction, H. P. Lovecraft himself. It’s an interactive portal into the world of the controversial genius and his highly acclaimed Cthulhu Mythos, open to both newcomers and long-time devotees.
The change happened whilst I slept.
Step into the shoes of a former ship officer and morphine fiend, and dive into the Stygian Abyss of a drug-addled mind. Uncover the unspeakable, long-drowned horrors on a distant eldritch island and wallow in Lovecraftian dread.
I think I went mad then.
So make yourself comfortable in front of the screen and experience cosmic horror first-hand in this 100% faithful adaptation of the original story. It will only take about 30 minutes, but you may never look at the ocean the same way.

I really enjoyed the experience, the narrator is good and art style perfect (especially the sea creatures). The atmosphere is sufficiently eerie and disturbing.
I did not find even half of the collectables, so I will go back. I found them quite interesting.
A nice visual novel, this one is based on the short story "Dagon" by HP Lovecraft. I have never read his works, but this was interesting, and I guess that this is my introduction into that universe. The prose and writing style took a little bit for me to get used to and I had to re-read some of the lines. Lovecraft seems to have had a very descriptive and verbose writing style that was a little dense at times for me but it was also really atmospheric and imaginative.
As a video game, this is very barebones and just consists on you clicking on either an icon to advance the story, or special hidden icons that will give you more tidbits of information on Lovecraft and his era. The 3D environments look pretty good, and I'm glad that they are rendered graphics rather than a flat artwork and text screen.
This is free and should take you less than an hour to complete, maybe more than that if you are looking for all of the hidden bits of information.
Great visual Novel, terrible walking sim where you don't even walk.
Anyway, when it shines, it shines bright. The visuals & the narrator voice are the main point of this short novel retranscription.
Do not expect something like "The Shore".
Here , you won't move, you bearely click on things 2 POI maximum per paragraphs.
For the ones not familiar with HP Lovecraft life, there's some little informations about him.
The project is cool but I wouldn't dare call this a "game".
Dagon: by H. P. Lovecraft is basically a retelling of the short story of the same name by the same author. The words are exactly the same, so in a way it's just like reading the story, but with visuals and a bit of interaction. It's not a walking sim, you cannot move your character, but you can look around the Lovecraftian landscapes and find some interesting Lovecraft trivia by finding hidden Elder Signs.
Because it is based on a short story, it should come to no surprise that the game is short as well, it took me around half an hour to finish. But it's free, so don't worry about it. If the developers would make more of these visual, Lovecraft-retelling short games, I would definitely play them.
