Not perfect, despite my 5 star rating.
If theres one thing I can say about CDPR , I know them for great stories and characters, but having only mediocre to above average gameplay. So I knew exactly what to expect going into this game and turns out I was right. The story is a love letter to cyberpunk genre. Its not revolutionary but takes the best elements of many cyberpunk stories and combines them into one. All basic themes of cyberpunk are explored such as of transhumanism, AI, memories, the human soul. It has some of the best written characters I’ve seen in years. Keanu Reeves performance was a highlight and one of the best of his career. Gunplay was not bad, but not great. The controls were a little shaky, and it got annoying when I would go into a dodge movement instead of sneaking around thus ruining my stealth approach. The enemy ai was also not very good at all. It was mostly stupid in many areas. However, combat was challenging enough for it to be fun. Driving is not good in this game. I did not like how it controlled, but it was tolerable enough for me to complete the races. Sountrack is a major highlight of the game and one of my favorites of all time. The visuals are also incredibly stunning and I loved looking through all of Night City. The aesthetics of this world are one to behold. Overall, not a perfect game, but it was exactly what I expected. Great game with a great story but has only above average gameplay.
