Everyone talks about the bugs but they fixed it a long time ago. I've been about 20 hours and I haven't found any. That said, if the theme suits you, it's your game, it wasn't fu or fa for me. Why did I buy it? For the price it has now it seems to me almost a "must have". Good story, huge map, interesting characters, awesome soundtrack and effects, lots to do… I think these are reasons to give it a try.
I've only just begun playing: currently gathering intel for the particular path in the story I've landed myself into. There are a Lot of things to do once you figure out when it works and when you really have to just stick with the schedule you've laid out for yourself.
I've been wanting this game F O R E V E R and just got it.
Character creation and development is a blast! The in-game tutorials (which are easy to turn off) are awesome!
I really wish that, kind of like Dragon Age Inquisition, they would show a bit more of our character's actions and/or dialog, etc., but the game truly is visually stunning!
Night City is BIG. I still suck at driving, but I know most gamers won't have that. Even in my sorry state, driving is a blast! Don't like having to travel all over the place, preferring instead to just get from action point to action point? It's got answers for that too. Not only do we get a car toward the early beginning, but there's also a Fast Travel system built in - and it's easily avoidable. Sometimes (at least some of us) enjoy looking around at the work that the team put into everything.
The voice acting and lip sync is phenomenal!
I also really like how our character begins a bit seasoned, rather than being utterly useless for the first few levels.
Oh... and that Sourcebook that comes with it... that's the actual Second Edition reprinting of Cyberpunk 2020!!! So cool!!!
I had faith in CD Projekt RED on this one, and I'm glad that they not only pulled it off, but surpassed that by a long shot - at least this (1.61) version.
Fantastic!!!
While at first beeing put off by a needlessly confusing interface and a lot of (open world typical) junk ites you don't care about I have grown to love this game for the relations it lets you build with its charakters, the attention to detail and its overall feel and presentation.
All aktivities like driving, shooting and hacking are fun to do (with the sole exception of crafting) and the variity in possible playsyles allows you to very freely pick what you like the most. While all of this works great the actual treat ist the narrative and especially the character relationships. You can grow from disliking a character to begrudgingly respecting them to befriending them and it all feels organic. Especially if Narrative and roleplay is impoortant to you, but really even if not, I can wholeheartedly recommend Cyberpunk 2077!
Pro:
+ Presentation
+ Characters
+ World
+ Stories
+ Attention to Detail
Con:
- Messy Interface
- A lot of Trash Items
Technical state: Playing on a midrange gaming PC I had no issues
Playing this about two years after its release, I enjoyed the game a lot. The style, architecture, and gameplay are excellent and the dialogues and story really strong. I played it mostly on the Steam Deck and it looked and played very nicely. The only things I regretted was the last mission, which I would have loved to approach much more as a planned heist with more stealth, and the many junk missions around the map that were really quite similar. Looking forward to the DLC!
Playing now in 2023 this game is a joy to experience. A faithful update of the original setting from Cyberpunk 2020 it gives you the chance to explore that world at depth. Everywhere you go Night City screams character at you. The loading screens (usually only seen when loading the game at start) provide news updates regarding your most recent major missions.
I had no issues expressing my character through taking or not taking missions, failing them deliberately to achieve a different result, or going above and beyond. The game met me halfway almost every single time I did this. You can choose to kill or simply incapacitate enemies (through cybernetic implants or weapon mods that make attacks nonlethal unless you shoot their unconscious body deliberately) and the game remembers who you killed and didn't.
You have a lot of leeway in how you approach any mission, hacking and stealth or going in loud. Towards the end of the game I started beating up gangs with my bare fists to prepare for a boxing questline I had been putting off and it felt very different from my careful stealth play to that point.
In short, I had a great time with this. The depth of worldbuilding really let me spend a huge amount of time in this world before I cleared everything. I truly hope there's more chances to explore this world in future games or DLC.
