Just finished Phantom Liberty DLC. Wow, and I mean WOW. One of the best games I ever played. I heard that it had a very bumpy start 3 years ago but can't comment on that, as I just bought that game 2 months ago. And I highly recommend. I don't think I have ever seen such great characters that you really see like real humans. There are moments in that game that will be remembered for a long time!
Is it a shooter, an RPG, a stealth game, or an exercise in compiling the most complex attribute/perks/settings/upgrades options in history. Hard to know. Hard to know if the developers know. Maybe, I guess, if you want to spend hours watching instruction videos and tailoring a perfect build for the game you want you might be able to find enough to think it's great. Otherwise it's slightly more frustrating than fun. So much potential compared to the delivery.
I loved the Witcher series but sadly Cyberpunk 2077 never clicked for me. I reckon all its quality, I love the gun fights but main issue for me are the graphics that I can't make it look beautiful, I geniuinely don't know why but graphics don't render well in my setup (RTX 4080 + OLED TV at 120 Hz)
Other down for me, and the biggest, is the story. While we had such an awesome story with The Witcher 2 & 3 here it feels very dull. Johnny is just a wee annoying teenager and although it's supposed to be the point of him being annoying it doesn't make it enjoyable or interesting though...
It's a shame because the first 15 hours until the Jackie event are brilliant. Havin this sensation of being part of something, good story writing etc
But then after this ? Everything falls down, the more liberty we're given the less narrative and interesting the game becomes. Absolute shame considering how the city feels vibrant and the criticism of neo-liberalism is blatant and well done.
I really wanted to love the game, but I sadly can't :(
An amazing immersive experience in beautiful Night City
On my rig:
i9 10800K 10/20 (overclocked to 5 Ghz)
32 Gb RAM
GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB
1 TB NVMe SSD, 2 TB 2.5'' SSD
the game runs quite smoothly on Ultra settings with RTX and automatic DLSS... (have not tested the performance with DLSS off).
This game is being reviewed so harsh just because people created expectatives beyond reality. With this said what is CP2077:
-Is a game which strongly relies on the main story, think in the W3, but here the objective is more clear. Characters are well crafted, I'm like 7 hours in the game and I felt attached to some of them, not because they were likeable but because they are credible.
-Technically is beyond anything I have ever seen. Playing it in 2K preset high, and you can't imagine how beautiful is.
Some people claim that they can play properly, most of I have seen are nvidia users and my guess about it is that they are playing with RTX on. They blame the devs for this.
I think too that most people don't know how to take care of a PC, so be sure to do a clean driver install (use DDU unistaller), deactivate W10 gaming layer (really messes with performance) and don't be obsessed with fps (take this last statment as a recommendation, that obssesion nearly ruined most games for me).
-As nearly every open world game in release there are some bugs, like floating objects and similar, few I have seen. But on the contrary, not a single crash or game breaking bug.
Said this, the thingy that got me dissapointed:
-UI is truly invasive, I can't deactivate quest marks, they told you what to do EVERY MOMENT, go here, go there, go here, go there... I expected more from this dev, really. This is the only thing making me lowering from 5 starts to 4.
OVERALL, this is an incredible game and amazing experinence, if you have a decent PC you should play it by yourself.
