From original BATTLETECH/MechWarrior creator Jordan Weisman and the developers of the award-winning Shadowrun Returns series comes the next-generation of turn-based tactical 'Mech combat.
The year is 3025 and the galaxy is trapped in a cycle of perpetual war, fought by noble houses with enormous, mechanized combat vehicles called BattleMechs. Take command of your own mercenary outfit of 'Mechs and the MechWarriors that pilot them, struggling to stay afloat as you find yourself drawn into a brutal interstellar civil war. Upgrade your starfaring base of operations, negotiate mercenary contracts with feudal lords, repair and maintain your stable of aging BattleMechs, and execute devastating combat tactics to defeat your enemies on the battlefield.
COMMAND A SQUAD OF 'MECHS IN TURN-BASED COMBAT: Deploy over 30 BattleMechs in a wide variety of combinations. Use terrain, positioning, weapon selection and special abilities to outmaneuver and outplay your opponents.
MANAGE YOUR MERCENARY COMPANY: Recruit, customize, and develop unique MechWarriors. Improve and customize your dropship. As a Mercenary, travel a wide stretch of space, taking missions and managing your reputation with a variety of noble houses and local factions.
TAKE PART IN A DESPERATE CIVIL WAR: Immerse yourself in the story of a violently deposed ruler, waging a brutal war to take back her throne with the support of your ragtag mercenary company.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR 'MECHS: Use your MechLab to maintain and upgrade your units, replacing damaged weapon systems with battlefield salvage taken from fallen foes.
PVP MULTIPLAYER & SKIRMISH MODE: Customize a Lance of 'Mechs and MechWarriors to go head-to-head with your friends, compete against opponents online, or jump into single-player skirmish mode to test your strategies against the AI.
Please note:
3rd party Paradox account is needed to challenge other players in 1v1 multiplayer matches and to redeem unlock codes for Kickstarter Backer or Pre-Order DLC. Bonus decorations and emblems require online connection in order to be appliable.
This game brought me back my childhood when I was playing the original tabletop game.
All I can say that Thank You delvelopers for giving us this masterpiece!
At the end credit I was almost crying seeing you guys and knowing that we are "battle brothers", we grew up together, not in the same country, but on the same battlefield :)
If I may suggest something, don't try to go mainstream, keep that in mind that market is already overcrowded!
This game the pace of the battles, speed of the gigant(!) menchs etc are just perfect, no need of change!
I look forward for any expansion you planning to release guys, with open wallet :)
You gave back my fate in games on a point where I was so disappointed with games I could not sit a hour to play the same game
Thank you
Mitch
This is a fantastic addition to a legendary franchise. They've kept the depth of tabletop while simplifying the interface just enough. There are still some warts:
1) Animations and movement are far too slow, especially after hours of play time, and there's not a simple way to speed things up.
2) Minor interface issuses - for example, when dragging a new weapon over to equip a mech, once it's placed, the interface automatically scrolls back to the top of the equipment list. That's a hassle when you have a big inventory of weapons and just want to drag 7 medium lasers onto a mech.
4.5 stars in current state, but rounding to 5 stars because they've already identified these issues and stated that wart remover is coming with first update.
Really good, makes me want to dig out my old Battletech novels and read them again. Decent story, good campaign, practically bug free. Finished my second play-through of the campaign and can´t wait for a Clan expansion pack!
This is my first experience with the BattleTech universe, which means I'm probably disregarding some perks of the game's history in my review.
The Good:
* It manages to flawlessly suck me in for one more turn, all other things aside this is good praise and something like certain AAA games (like Civilization VI) have failed to do.
* Tactical movement and positioning, as well as good use of abilities, really do matter a lot. Sure, you won't bring down an all-Assault lance with your Light mechs but it's definitely not all about the gear.
* The Mechwarriors' spoken lines adds a nice personal touch to combat.
The Neutral:
* While I feel the game doesn't suffer overly from it I would appreciate more varied environments and environment effects. Fighting in a cityscape perhaps, seeing different trees or smatterings of civilization here and there. I'd also enjoy seeing the effect of low-/high-g environments etc. on combat.
* There seem to be some significant memory leaks still in the game, I've only had one outright CTD in 100+ hours of playtime but it does get progressive more sluggish over time and the crash was due to all available memory being full (8GB physical, 20GB virtual). It's not a dealbreaker but it's worth keeping in mind.
* Some missions are a lot harder than their rating implies due to their nature, regardless of what tonnage of mechs you're facing.
* Occasionally you'll suffer XCOM-like moments but unlike said game it actually seems in line with the percentages (bar that one battle where _every_ _single_ _attack_ hit Twitch in the head).
* Weapon balance isn't perfect, thought it might be somewhat down to personal preference. I struggle to see the point of ballistic weapons due to their tonnage for example.
The Bad:
* The load times are horrendous, they need to be reduced by about 90% to be what I'd consider normal.
* Skill balance is pretty poor. Gunnery >> everything else.

This is the BattleTech game i have always wanted. Haveing experianced the width and Bredth of (most?) all BattleTech / Mechwarrior games before this one i can say that Dreams Do Come TRUE!
some of the story telling in this game is so clever because the things happening happen to YOU, they dont happen to some pixle sticker on the otherside.
There was one part in this game that struck me so that i had to stop and consider if i really wanted to revisit this dystopian universe.
The game play has got to be good for my Health, Anything that will get my pulse that fast for that long is like cardio right ? Near misses Lucky shots "I CANT BELIVE" moments. whew.
The missions are randomly generated each time you load into one so the experiance is really more enjoyable if you are able to focus on the direction you wish to steer the battle. drive that enamy into a radiation storm to wreck his next turn. lure that troublesome foe into a killzone and turn the meat grinder while his backup trys to exchange fire with you. Show them your shiney metal ass and see if they are not tempted .
The AI will really try to give you a proper challenge afterall the mechs they are piloting are no less precious to them as yours are to you. if they see a weak link in your line dont be surprised if they sever it.
I had a group of 8 bad guys dis arm the mech i was using to can open them , I would punch wholes and then find the crits with many many missles. It only worked for so long untill they adapted and renewed the fight.
I AM very excited to see this game carry on with regular expansions for years. i hope we can talk about this game for years to come.
THANK YOU JORDAN WISMAN, THANK YOU HAIRBRAINED SCHEMES.
Sincerly , Giant Mech
