It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Gerin: I am trying to do this but I don't see a "Keep Aspect Ratio" check box. I see what is attached. Do I need to change something there or on some other setting?
Thanks for helping.
A bit late (a YEAR late) to answer this, but you apparently already have "Aspect ratio" scaling selected, so that should work. I suppose you can also fiddle with the other two options shown in that screen: "Perform scaling on...", change to see if it helps (though that will probably make no sense if you're on a laptop), or enable "Override scaling mode" if all else fails.
Thanks! You aren't too late at all. I will try it asap.

Oh great! I'm not sure if you were going for full-screen on Windows 8, if you will, do mind these instructions: http://www.gog.com/forum/heroes_of_might_and_magic_series/heroes_of_might_and_magic_2_gold_windows_version_available_as_an_extra_please_read/post29
Just Windows 7 64, but I will try what you said. Anything might work. :) Thanks again
I take it that "Graphic Setup" is offered on a "good luck with it" basis? The resolution remains at 640x480 for me.
This was one of my very favorite games of my childhood, and I just bought it in GoG.

I have a couple questions:

#1, It runs great, but does anybody have a fix for the music in the windows version restarting constantly? It totally kills the soundtrack...

#2, Just out of curiosity, why is the DOS version the "officially supported" version of the game? Seems like the windows version would be much better to work on optimizing and supporting (from GoG's end)

The music issue is a real killer for me, and I haven't been able to find anything definitive on how to get it working properly.

Thanks for any response!

John

Did you try the compatibility modes?
It is very encouraging to hear that our beloved Heroes II doesn't work on Windows 10 crap. :-)

I prefer win version too... and i have the same pb with Win10 (compatiblity mode on), the process start (HEROES2W) et work and not hang (working cpu 30~40%) but not windows apear or error message...

If i try another win version than GOG (H2_PoL_Archange.1.0 / original exe on my POL CD etc...) i have some error about directdraw witch not supported since W8. I don't hope a windows fix but i hope a GOG fix for Win8/8.1/10 ^^
