I've noticed that the music does not pick off where you left it, like it does in the DOS version.

For example, the familiar grass theme starts over again once you enter/exit a town, or when you end your turn. This way you never really get to enjoy the full song and I don't believe that was the intention, seeing as the DOSBOX version doesn't do this.
Is this true for all players here, or am I missing something?

I am trying to do this but I don't see a "Keep Aspect Ratio" check box. I see what is attached. Do I need to change something there or on some other setting?
Thanks for helping.

Good job GOG !!!

The game is working here, but I had to enable the Windows XP SP3 compatibility option on the executable, otherwise I had no sound effects and none during the cinematics.

Also the game crashes (back to Windows) regularly when playing in hotseat (not sure in other modes, I mainly play with a friend in hotseat mode)

Other than than, it's good, but the DOSBox version works also nicely (maybe slightly slower), and is more stable on my machine.

Win 7 SP1 64

I have bought the hmm2 here on GOG, and I would like a fix, so that EDITOR would work as well
Strange issue:

- with internet: game works like a charm,

- without internet: does not start at all.

There's no "heroes2w.exe" in task manager and process rundll32.exe eats almost 80% cpu usage.

Windows 7 x64, Heroes 2 Windows version, clean & new installation.

PS. Ubi DRM? :-)

Almost certainly Games Explorer. Run the game twice, and second time it should start as it should. Alternatively, run it once with internet so Games Explorer can find the data, then it should run without a hitch. An even more radical solution is to disable Games Explorer.

OMG. Thanks for the info. "Double run" works. Rundll32.exe still eating my CPU but "alt+tab + kill this sob" and the job's done!
HI Guys,

A question, how do you run the game windowed? and if so how to adjust the window size?

thanks!

EDIT: nothing, just press F4, easy....... U_U

403 - Forbidden whenever I click the installer link on my account? how do I resolve?
Is there any actual difference between the Windows version of Homm2 and the DOS version?

What benefits are there?

It's the same game, no?
Atlantico, I'm not sure which Windows release was used by GoG but official New World Computing HoMM II Gold release (1998) only have Windows support. HoMM II Gold for DOS doesn't exist.
AFAIK the GoG's HoMM II DOS release was taken from HoMM Compendium compilation released by New World Computing in 1997.
Windows game release usually has full Red Book Audio support (CD Audio playback from game CD) compared to DOS rls.

Then, what are the differences between the HoMM compendium compilation version and the windows gold version?

Look here first.
HoMM II Gold = (HoMM II Compendium Pre-Gold release) - (DOS release versions) + (Additional Content).
This is great. Thanks! :)
