Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $9.99 on GOG.com.
Judging by the image on the front page I have a feeling I will have to delete my browser history and cache after i click the the game's card...

SpiderFromMars: Hmmm.. is this a clone of the Princess Maker saga from Gainax?
Looks VERY much like it, though Princess Makers seems to have MORE gameplay and possibilities :))
That looks ... weird. But I like weird. Not all kinds of weird though. And I really don't know which kinds of weird the game will cater to, it could go both ways. But I trust GOG that - if they fully tested this game, as Judas says - when GOG releases such a game, they wouldn't release the worst of the flock.

Piqued my curiosity. Wishlisted. :)

Kunovski: it seems the whole thread is full of people with prejudice... not that I'm surprised :(
And this is why we don't get any good stuff :(

(Now I can see why you people were so against AO games being sold in GOG. And this is not even a hentai game, and yet you* judge it as such...)

*you, as in general.
I want it because of the trailer, but everything else puts me off.

Hmm.

PMIK: I'm presuming you start the game at 14 but don't have affairs until you are much older.

Well I sure hope so or gog might be closed down for selling paedophilic games.
a) I think very likely that the guy in that pic means that she kinda admitted to a non-existant affair and he said that as in "you know you should be the one most worried about avoiding that misconception, right?"

b) Possibly affair here would just mean secretly dating, no sex involved. Which would be perfectly normal for a 14 yo girl.
Edit: partly ninja'd (typical, sigh) by Judas.

Melhelix: 4th pic: Duke of Maree. Age 31. "You realize that you have just admitted to all your guests that you and I are having an affair."

Overview text: Being a Princess is not an easy job. Being a Queen is even harder. Especially when you're only fourteen years old...

Wishbone: Really? A nice Japanese game about pedophilia? Great release, GOG. Well done you.
Don't you think judging the game, because of a single out-of-context picture and a piece of text from the description is a little unfair? How about playing the game to form an opinion?
Glad to see GOG break into visual novels, at least. Winter Wolf games next?

Kunovski: ...though I understand that such visual style for a game with these mechanics probably wasn't the best choice:

- the people with prejudice who want interesting gameplay and mechanics won't probably touch this just because of its visuals
- and the people who love these visuals probably won't get what they hoped they would...

I'm neither so I'll give it a try :)

EDIT: it seems the whole thread is full of people with prejudice... not that I'm surprised :(
If they didn't want to give that particular impression they would have chosen different screen shots, especially for the first four. Nothing about random skill tree, breast comment, tentacle shot, questionable relationship comment, screams "complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices." I hope it is a worthwhile game. I trust GOG so I assume there must be something worthwhile to it, otherwise they wouldn't have added it to the catalogue. But for a first impression? No, not the best. I feel a hell of a lot better after Judas' comment, and I'll probably warm up to it or at least have a better grip on it after quite a few user reviews. At first glance? It's definitely a pass for me. In a month or two? I'll know more about it and be able to make an informed decision then.
First and tenth screenshots tell me this might be relevant to my interests.
As for ugly-ass anime visuals, well. I'm not a graphic whore.

Like I said, I personally went through the game and found nothing in there that was in any way, shape, or form unsavory. Not even a single expletive. I think I did see an ankle, I know, I know, an ankle! I am getting the vapors now...*faints*
It seems it is getting Steam release as well so I'm sure it doesn't have any unsavory parts.
The trailer makes the game look pretty interesting, actually. But I really, really dislike the visual style and all that seems to come with it.

So much for my graphics don't matter much stance :P

Oh you, my dear ...(shall I call you a 'game'?) ...your visual atrocity and absurdity is just 'queen' like if I may so express myself...

Some of you guys seem to take this a tad too seriously.
