Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $9.99 on GOG.com.

tajemniczybeton: Steam doesn't allow AO games and when any country has any problem with any game(for example australia, argentina or russia) they are quickly blocking sales of problematic game in it.

KneeTheCap: And GOG lied to us when they said The Witcher 2 would be the same version and price everywhere. Though at least they didn't block the sales.
My point is if this game was hentai like some people seems to think it wouldn't get release on steam.

True, and I was agreeing with you. At least in my mind I was :)

(I'd still love digital distributors to sell games with AO content, like those hentai games. I have nothing against them, as they're, you know, just games)
The first screenshot and the part of strategy are intriguing.

Comments made this game more intriguing even.
FYI, AFAIK, princes, princesses, kings and queens, took often the throne when they were 12, 13, 14 (even younger sometimes , without Regency)... in the Middle-Ages, the Renaissance, the Modern Era... And they were married (or promised) and often with people older/younger than them.

So I won't be shocked if a game mention a teenager married to an grown up, even if graphics are cute. Because it would be accurate (especially for a middle-age fantasy setting).

And, most of all, the game seems to be fun.
So wishlisted.

Hanako Games ?

Well, this looks intriguing. And come on guys, if you can get past the ugly graphics in some of the oldies I'm sure you can get past the drawings in this if they are not to your liking.

Edit: Thanks for the reviews, Barry! I think I've made up my mind and am going to get this sometime.

Those reviews do make it sound interesting. Don't judge a game byt its gamecard!

Wishbone: Really? A nice Japanese game about pedophilia? Great release, GOG. Well done you.

PaterAlf: Don't you think judging the game, because of a single out-of-context picture and a piece of text from the description is a little unfair? How about playing the game to form an opinion?
You know, you're absolutely right. I need to change the way I buy games. Rather than buying games that look interesting to me, I should instead only buy games that look as though I will hate them with every fiber of my body, just to see if I am right. That makes a lot of sense.

Melhelix: If they didn't want to give that particular impression they would have chosen different screen shots, especially for the first four. Nothing about random skill tree, breast comment, tentacle shot, questionable relationship comment, screams "complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices." I hope it is a worthwhile game. I trust GOG so I assume there must be something worthwhile to it, otherwise they wouldn't have added it to the catalogue. But for a first impression? No, not the best. I feel a hell of a lot better after Judas' comment, and I'll probably warm up to it or at least have a better grip on it after quite a few user reviews. At first glance? It's definitely a pass for me. In a month or two? I'll know more about it and be able to make an informed decision then.
Screenshots appear to have been (poorly? your call) chosen by the publisher. If you check their page on the game you'll see three shots that are also on GOG's page

Overview text: Being a Princess is not an easy job. Being a Queen is even harder. Especially when you're only fourteen years old...

. . . ? Seriously? I will be interested to see some reviews on this. I really hope I am reading it wrong. I hope that inside it's a, I don't know, political intrigue masterpiece or something. Please.
1. 14 is legal in some places
2. In middle ages, especially in "noble" families, 14 was long past adulthood.
3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo3Tpw-zLkM&t=20 :P

So I see that makers of this game made such gems as: Cute Knight and Cute Knight Kingdom... Oh, this is going to be good.

JudasIscariot: Also, the Intrigue boosting outfit is the best outfit. Comes with a badass monocle.
Monocle you say? I'm soooo getting this.

let's just hope all these moralists create enough hype and increase the sales :D

joppo: Just noticed this game was released by Hanako Games which also made Cherry Tree High Comedy Club. When it appeared on a bundle I could never get a key on the ninja thread because it was always the first game to go, so... maybe HG did some things right and deserve some credit?

BTW, for the people who don't know if they would like it: Get the demo on the developer's page: http://www.hanakogames.com/llq.shtml
AFAIK Cherry Tree is done by Nyu Media. :p
