Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $9.99 on GOG.com.

DProject: Lol, what a strange release. The 2nd pic gives me all the information I need about this one.
The cover pic gives me all the information I need. Not for me.

Melhelix: 4th pic: Duke of Maree. Age 31. "You realize that you have just admitted to all your guests that you and I are having an affair."

Overview text: Being a Princess is not an easy job. Being a Queen is even harder. Especially when you're only fourteen years old...

. . . ? Seriously? I will be interested to see some reviews on this. I really hope I am reading it wrong. I hope that inside it's a, I don't know, political intrigue masterpiece or something. Please.
I played through the entire game, start to finish, and managed to get several endings. I don't know what you're expecting but there's nothing unsavory going on in the game, although I did wish it let me continue the game as Queen so I could happily reign in terror, aided by dark Lumen magicks... >.>

Really? A nice Japanese game about pedophilia? Great release, GOG. Well done you.

I'm presuming you start the game at 14 but don't have affairs until you are much older.

Well I sure hope so or gog might be closed down for selling paedophilic games.

...though I understand that such visual style for a game with these mechanics probably wasn't the best choice:

- the people with prejudice who want interesting gameplay and mechanics won't probably touch this just because of its visuals
- and the people who love these visuals probably won't get what they hoped they would...

I'm neither so I'll give it a try :)

EDIT: it seems the whole thread is full of people with prejudice... not that I'm surprised :(

Guys, the affairs bit refers to courtship in the game, not to "affairs of a carnal nature". As I said before, nothing unsavory is in the game as I played through it 3 times to try and get to the coronation.

I can only encourage other gamers to give this one a try. It is a really good mix of visual novel and RPG with many decisions that really have their consequences.

I will admit that I like the art style very much, but we have a few skeptics here who really got into the game :)

Yeah, mock away before even checking out the game. Typical.

Anyway, I bought this one from the homepage, and haven't been disappointed. Very worth the price.

Still mad that I did not get to continue my reign of terror, just so you know >.>
