Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $9.99 on GOG.com.
Well this looks different. *Wishlisted* We need some more variety here, and I would love to see gog get more visual novel sytled games.

jamotide: Huh, I thought that screenshot is about getting offspring, kinda like a stork bringing it, thats what they tell small kids here when they arent old enough to know the disgusting truth.
Does Germany hate sex as much as the US?

Gotta love that this is already on that "Trash" GOGmix that doesn't have any ratings or descriptions or reasoning.

Never bothered with the GOGmixes, but this got me thinking that description and reasoning should be mandatory. And why is there only a "I like it" option/ button and no "I don't like it" one? Or no way to comment?

ne_zavarj: Hanako Games ?

Didn't you leave the forum twice already?

Who the hell keeps letting you back in?

He never actually left, he just loves to be dramatic.

Starmaker: That's patented bullshit. We have Guilty Gear here, and the reception (to Reload, because it's good) was positive.

so i guess you missed the "...of that kind" part of my message, because if you sincerely think Long Live the Queen and Guilty Gear are the same kind of game, we might have a problem, here ^_^
What "kind of game"? I don't think there's even a single person ITT who has expressed a less-than-positive opinion because of the genre. People love
- strategies (too many to list),
- reading (FTL, Dragon Pass, Zafehouse),
- levelling characters (way too many to list),
- actual Japanese games (La-Mulana, Guilty Gear - and I see a PC troll in this thread suggesting young males are afraid of gay cooties - what gives?),
- non-Japanese games with "super-deformed" art (To the Moon),
- games with female protagonists and "feels", so more girly than usual (quite a bunch),
- blatantly in-your-face girly stuff (Giana Sisters),
- even a game with goddamn visual-novel-style cutscenes and Japanese-style sprites and a female main character and a female majority in the party and I would hug it at night and whisper sweet nothings to it and make tender love to its every bit.

So I can't find a pattern. Except, well, people tend to dislike the games they perceive as visually uncool - but that's tautological. Yes, I realize the rest of the game might be good.
(On a tangentially related note, I love this picture and I wish the whole game would follow this style.)

And FYI: ne_zavarj, the user who manages the "Trash" gogmix, apparently loves Scheherazade (the art style of which is just as cutesy, if not more so) and casual (so, stereotypically girly) games.

@GOG
Can the save games from the demo be used with the GOG version?
high rated
You know for all the comments about possible sexual content... I'm surprised that no one picked up on the fact that the only likely sexual content you're going to get from a purchase of this is in the free copy of The Witcher you'll be getting with it for the next day or so.

But yes, now I've had time to read this topic, all I can say is, this is why you see so few Japanese games on Greenlight. The immediate (wrong) conclusions people jump to, is part of why the majority of Japanese indie devs steer clear. Such a shame to see the same silly reactions in a once classy community.

xa_chan: Instabuy.

How could I promote more japanese games, pick Agarest pre-release on Steam and not buy Long Live the Queen??

Excellent move, GOG, and I was delighted to see so many people "upset" on this thread, means that you're really making things move ! ^_^
I don't hate Japanese games in general, but in Agarest... the "soul breed" system seems like a bit much. I thinks it could actually be a pretty cool system if it weren't so hyper-sexualized.
mispost.

delete this.
