Remastering dos games for modern computers isn't really different from remastering Amiga games for modern computers. Both involve a port of similar complexity.

Shipping the game *without* a remaster is trickier currently on Amiga, especially for GOG, who have nailed the dos-games tooling.

Splatsch: There is Wings here who is from an Amiga version. Do you think it wouldn't be possible to have this version of Worms ?

JudasIscariot: As far as I know that was built on Cinemaware's own emulator :)
Is there a chance we could see Worms Armageddon on GOG?

I guess that's up to Team 17 as I have no way of knowing what will or will not end up on our site ahead of time :)

There is a way - Team 17 could make a deal with Cinemaware to make Worms DC playable on their emulator, but this is very unlikely.

No, that's still not a way. Cinemaware's emulator might be good for their games (though Defender of the Crown apparently isn't emulated too well), but not necessarily for other Amiga games. Even then, Cinemaware might have gotten permission from the Kickstart Rom rights owner only for their own games, thus a deal for other Amiga games would still have to be made between the Kickstart Rom rights owners and Team 17. Whether Team 17 believes there is any profit to be made by offering the Amiga versions, that's another matter entirely.

It looks like there might be some interest! :)
Ah, I was already wondering what happend to WWP. I was checking yesterday but I didn't see a new release thread and my game had a new timer in the library. :-P

Thanks for coming to the forums and giving an explanation Mike_Team17. :) I'll wait patiently for the release (and I do hope to get more Team 17 games here at some point here as well! ;))

At least nice to hear it still has LAN-support! :D

As sad as this news is, it's incredibly awesome for you to communicate that in such a friendly manner! :)
Mike thanks for being so helpful. I too would love to see more of Team 17 games here including worms Armageddon. Think i bought all the worms games over the years.

Good luck with the launch on the remastered world party hope it sells well for you.

I do have one wee question has it got scots accents you can select. Being a Scot i love the voices the worms had in the past.

Welcome to GOG, Mike!

Bugs? I thought they are called Worms? (o_O)
Hi !

I have two questions, the first one being about this World Party Remastered, the second one being totally random, so if you don't have an answer, there's no need to really look for one. :D

1/ I know there will be LAN and online multiplayer through Team17 servers, but what about direct TCP/IP connection ? There was the possibility to just enter a friend's IP address/domain name in Armageddon, so we could play online even withouth using a main server, but I didn't see it in the original World Party. It's a shame, because it's always good to have the possibility for players to self-host a game, even on Internet.

2/ I know it's a looooooong shot, but just in case : what does Team17 in general feel about Hedgewars, the GPL open source Worms clone ? For the record, I play and love both games, I'm not looking to start a troll-war between the two. I'm just curious to know if the original developpers care about it in any particular way.

Thanks anyway for the communication. We'll just wait another week, no big deal. :)
Morning everyone,

I've passed on your MORE WEERRRMS request to our PC commercial manager, he's going to take a look at whether its viable.

As for WWP, progress is being made and I'll have more news for you soon.

0Grapher: I've already posted this but I fear it was overlooked.

Is your team still monitoring the demand for Linux and Mac ports?
avatar
Mike_Team17: Absolutely - the more we hear about this, the more ammo I have to kick the devs in the shins until they make it ;)

Came on here just to voice Mac support. I have my MacBookPro on me all the time, while I have my home computer dual booted I don't have the space on this to Dual boot it. Thus any and all Mac ports are very welcome, especially when it comes to my favorite game series. But for the love of all deities do not make it platform specific like Reloaded.......

Ill buy the remaining Team 17 games i dont currently have if you get Armageddon here. How is that for an incentive :)
What makes this game better than Worms 2 armageddon? I just loved and played armaggeddon as solo and multiplayer, when I was teen!
