draexem: In the real world, when people have an issue with certain journalists or media organisations they read a different newspaper.....
You mean they don't conflate the part for the whole? I'm all for that:
Like I don't like journalist A but there's others in his group so I don't boycott the group.
Or I don't like news site X but there's other news sites related to it so I don't attack the whole system.
Maybe even, I hate the haters in GG but there's others in this group so I don't attack the whole.
And let's go all the way, I see parts of society are unfair but there's other parts I like so I don't radicalize.

Taking the opportunity, this whole concern with purity used to define dogmatic conservatives, but it's inverting itself. The moral hypocrisy is so obvious it astonishes me. Consider the words: it's poisoned, it's tainted, it's corrupted, perverted...

Ladies and gentlemen, we all are literally full of shit, please stop assuming bad faith on others. More dialogue (listen and ask) and less condemnation would be awesome.

A joke: this news thread is polluted with too much opinions and emotions, clearly unsalvageable, gone OT. Let's put it out if its misery and open a new one. Moderator, please lock it.

Also in the real and rational world, people with a beef against folk don't lash out at others. But at least your post convinced me that GG actually IS filled with sensible, intelligent people who totally don't go over the top because they lack perspective living in those bubbles they call lives.

I actually felt sorry I kind of took that reply to you to get on the soapbox... Unfortunately I think the real world is rather defined as irrational and the place where folk lash out at others all the time. It's cause I'm stupid I sometimes actually try to get in the way of such enlightened human processes happening. Wonderful way to get it from both sides if you ask me... ;)

htown1980: Proving all claims made by all #gg'ers? Surely you're not that naive ;)

227: Of course a movement with zero entry barrier is bound to invite in some crazies who ramble incoherently about lizard people and the illuminati, but the central arguments of the movement re: journalistic corruption and failures of disclosure are absolutely provable.

Take Nathan Grayson, who if the media is to believed, is just an innocent little game reporter who had some allegations against him disproved. Except he has some massive failures of disclosure, having written about Quinn twice ( and [url=https://archive.today/R8a9m]two) despite appearing in the game's credits all the way back in February 2013 (check the page's source).

Then we have the other conflicts of disclosure; I've already linked you to the Patricia Hernandez thing, so I'll spare you the barrage of links that proves it. Funny that none of the mainstream publications have brought up either her or Grayson's failures to disclose previously-existing relationships, instead choosing to spin things to sound like we've produced no evidence of corruption whatsoever.

Then there are the claims that SJWs feel like minorities belong to them. I'll let this link speak for itself: https://archive.today/l1xUe

Then there's the hate Pakman's receiving (including from some very familiar people) for having the audacity to ask questions and try to untangle what's going on. Apparently the only acceptable thing to do is buy into the idea that GG are misogynists and terrorists and not ask any questions.

Even those who feel that SJWs are trying to change their games—while usually fringe members and not the kind of thing I'd 100% agree is a bad thing—are lent credence by some of the insane things Jonathan McIntosh has posted.

How about our argument that the media at large is proving to be incredibly unprofessional? We have a Time writer favoriting Sam Biddle's bullying tweet (he's hardly the only one, either). Or how about the guy who wrote the Newsweek article trying to spin numbers to make us look like misogynists? He tweeted and [url=https://archive.today/1arjD]this, no doubt in support of his beleaguered colleague as advertisers were jumping ship. These are truly some shining beacons of professionalism, don't you think?

Or how about the argument that game journalists aren't even willing to have the discussion with us? Ben Kutchera: and [url=http://i.xomf.com/flhql.png]two. Jason Schreier. How about those who aren't game journalists, but who are listened to by them? Surely we can build meaningful dialogue through them, right? Yeah, about that.

And how about the argument that harassment coming from those opposing GG goes unreported on? Take the guy who advocated doxxing our supporters, for example. I thought people were having to condemn any and all harassment coming from their side, and yet I've yet to hear anyone on the other side complain and try to get that tweet taken down. That's not even mentioning the blacklisting from that user (and others).

Still waiting on proof that we're a bunch of raving misogynists with no proof of corruption who are only using ethics as a smokescreen to drive women and more diverse games out of the industry, by the way.
Brilliant post and with links - got a good laugh reading some Johny MaCintosh tweets. I haven't LOLed that much in ages! X-D He can put that baby babble out on twitter but as Sarkesian's appearance on Stephen Colbert showed, anything even remotely resembling critical thinking is another thing altogether.

RWarehall: Two things, TotalBiscuit has always been neutral. He has never been pro-Gamergate. The only people claiming he is, are the anti-GG people because he dared to criticize game journalists. Saying anything negative at all about anyone involved in the anti-GG group seems to make one pro-GG. Don't buy the hype.

Next, this version of feminism is about 40-50 years old. I saw the same thing almost 30 years ago in college. College seems to breed the Andrea Dworkin/Catherine Mackinnon style feminists. They give real feminists a bad name. Even normal feminists are divided on them. Some claim they are good for the cause by providing attention to the cause (crazy talk gets press), others feels it sets back the movement.

And as for all you anti-GG people wanting people to run away from the hashtag, answer these questions and when you can't, how does this change your position...

1) How many of these threats to women were signed with the hashtag?
2) The complaints about Zoe's game started when?
3) Anita's Kickstarter started when?

It should be noted that both claimed harassment long before there was a Gamergate, so what does the hashtag have to do with anything?

The way I see it, there are extremist jerks on both sides. Both sides need to quit pointing at the other side's nut jobs and judging the rest of the groups by them.
word.

Gather around the fire and listen to the story of the Anonymous person and the Wu. Shortly after the linked exchange (as in, just hours later), this was posted on an Anonymous-affiliated site. If you look at the twitter for the Anonymous person, you'll notice that it's the Anonymous person's site (further proof it's theirs) where this was posted, and there are apparently certain Twitter accounts set to auto-tweet anything posted on that site, leading to a blast of messages Brianna tweeted as "further death threats from Gamergate."

I can haz $11,000 now?

EDIT: In case that's not sufficient enough proof, here's some more. Anonymous person is confronted with the "op" and doesn't deny it, instead pointing out that they don't follow leaders "to get orders."

Hey good news
Here's some bat-shit crazy, misogynistically agendaed massive over reaction to something fairly innocuous and this time it ISN'T related to games or gamers!

Turns out it's not gamers who are the bad guys its just the entire male half of the species, wait, how is this good again?
:-)
(apart from the excuse to troll a bit, I DID find some of these genuinely hilarious, enjoy!)

LOL, I discovered Doctor Who recently through Netflix and I always wondered what kind of national shitstorm would erupt if the doctor was "ressurected" as a woman :o)

Personally I have to admit I was too relatively annoyed by what Moffat did in this episode but because....

DR WHO LAST SEASON SPOILERS READ AT YOU OWN RISK!!!

I wasn't pissed of because the Master became a female, I was pissed of because Missy ended up being the Master.

I mean I really "hoped" (Knowing Moffat it was probably a little too much to hope for) that Missy would end up being a new and interesting villain, somebody mysterious that even the Doctor wouldn't know anything about... but instead we got.... the Master....again!.... and after what happens in the previous seasons it's very hard to take the Master seriously anymore.

I was honestly bored by it, Missy had some potential to being something interesting, instead thrown away to abuse the idea of The Master again. The whole thing had some interesting potential with the little tidbits that were dropped, and hell you would even have given her a minor role in the finale that built her up into something greater. But yeah, it's a boring and very short term answer, and it made me sigh after the build up.
