I've not backed a Kickstarter project before, but I'm mighty tempted to have this be my first.
shut up and take my money

Luisfius: Possibly linked to achievements. Also, steam has the most prominent presence in digital distribution.
* angry *
To hell with Steam and its achievements . I hate when a developer want to force me to use one service / store . Let people choose between the DRM free version and that shit .
They are only doing what the fans want.

Their were numerous polls done on various RPG sites over the last few months (GameBanshee for one) about what setting would you like to see an Obsidian RPG kickstarter.

Fantasy was at the top of all of them, I think followed by steampunk.
Doh, I just read it will be 'via Steam'.

Oh well, I can live with that when it comes to isometric turn based rpg, but I hope they will be spammed for DRM-free version.
Who gives a fuck whether it's fantasy or not, so long as it's MCA penning it?

Gentlemen, shall we?

:pitchforks:

Seriously, I want to throw more money at them. $20 is the max I will go for a Steam game.

I have no problem with the Steam-only thing, I can even accept them asking for more than $15... but they need $1.1M? With no in-game content to show, just how good the Black Isle times were, and April 2014 as estimated launch? Sorry, I don't trust them enough to back this right now.

I'd rather have South Park RPG finished and polished, then they should take some time to produce and show actual footage for this game, then I'd pledge.
130k in one hour, that's a new record for Kickstarter

They are not getting money from any publisher for this title. South Park was funded by a publisher.

Preach it, brother!

lowyhong: Put down $20 because it's Chris fucking Avellone (and Scott Everts). Will pledge $140 if they have a non-Steam version included.
140 bucks would get you the boxed version. There's no indication whether or not it will be tied to Steam though. I'm hoping not.

*edit* Oh, and Kotaku Article on it. Interesting comments by Avellone.

This.
I thought $15 was the standard for videogames kickstarters =/
Well, at least I got in time for the early bird reward of $20. I can always cancel the pledge if I don't like what they show in the updates.
Hopefully they will do proper QA with this game unlike almost everything else they've done. (I'm looking at you Alpha Protocol)

It's 65 bucks for a boxed version. So can't say I understand all this bitching about the lack of a non-Steam version (though there really should be more choices for digital versions even at $20 tier).

They will get more than $3M, $1.1 will be there in a few days.
