Whether you bought the game, got the demo in a box of Kellogg's, or haven't even heard of it - here's your chance to visit the Wild West!

Go on a journey to New Mexico in 1881 as one of the six Desperados that are on the hunt for the train robbing "El Diablo." As John Cooper, the bounty hunter engage your enemies in a real time strategy game - think [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue#all_genres/search/commandos/]Commandos but with revolvers and a Wild West setting. Utilize each team member's unique skillset, ranging from carrying Gatling guns or faking a siesta to special equipment like Mia's monkey or Samuel with his love for TNT. Overcome the engaging missions with unique setting and scenery. Challenge the robust AI system which makes each try at a mission a unique experience.

Apart from the enemies, your heroes also have unique gameplay features like Quick Action which lets you bind a series of actions into one button, so you can shoot your enemies "John Wayne style".

So what game made you ride with the outlaws? It's Desperados, we think :)
Excellent release! I already have and played the game, so I won't be getting this (not to say I am also broke at the moment), but let me say it once again, it is an excellent release! :-D
Just awesome to see this deserving game added to the GOG database. One of my favorite games of all time, and probably would be if not for CIV 4. Desperados never seemed to get a lot of love in the States, but was fairly popular in Europe. I highly recommend it to all 2D strategy and Commandos fans. Excellent graphics for the time.

The game is very hard at first. Lots of trial and error, but IMO that is what makes it special. My first play through took a LONG time. It gets a bit easier with each playthrough but still rewarding as you can try new tricks.

I own the original disk but will likely buy a soft version here on GOG.

Now life will be complete when GOG adds a working Silent Storm Gold to their catalog - updated to work on newer machines/videocards.. C'mon GOG, you can do it. :)

After Commandos series, this one is the best! And after this, no great games like it left on Earth...

Agree....almost...try Silent Storm (gold version)
Thank you GOG! I have been playing tactical games in heaps lately for some reason, so thanks for adding another one to feed my hunger.

I am waiting for this weekend's sale. If there is nothing I want, this game shall be bought.
I agree with Kunovski (above), I think my age has surpassed my patience. Even though this game looks really nice (and I'm sure it's fun to play) I just don't have the patience any more to trial and error my way through it.
I think I might look for a walkthrough, and enjoy it vicariously through someone else's patience.
It does seem like a nice release for GOG though.

Not sure about this one i was not a comandos fan so might give this one a miss. Still i have a few games still to play (why kid myself a stack of games still to be played thank you gog for the great cheap games i cant stop buying them :) )
I hate the mission-based structure of these types of games. If it was designed more like an adventure then I would probably enjoy it more. I guess I'll pass. It's like an RTS game where you only have one of each type of spellcaster and you're suppose to use those units to discreetly destroy the enemy base. You don't level up but you might have different spellcasters from mission to mission.

It's sad because if you put together all the missions in one of these games and just have one playable character then you could have the groundwork for a decent RPG or adventure game.
Desperados is a very good game for fans of games like the Commandos series. Another good one from the same developer is Robin Hood - The Legend of Sherwood
if it was turn based.. would have prolly been an awesome game.
I always wished the developers of games like Desperades and Commandos would take their glorious 2D art and do something more multi-faceted, original and even adventurous with it - why not an RPG, adventure game or even a trade sim? - instead of merely focusing on trial-and-error puzzles. The gameplay works on a strictly mechanical level, but it all just feels so spectacularly unambitious and narrow-minded compared with the obvious labor of love that is the visual presentation in these games.
WHOOO
I did not expect this one. Happy Eastern
I see a lot comparing this to Commandos. Do you mean the first game specifically or the whole series? I have 2+3 but haven't really gotten into them yet.
PLEASE GOG, ADD ROBIN HOOD LEGEND OF SHERWOOD! It's not exactly well known, and it's by the same people. This game is an instant purchase for me, thank you!
