Final pre-release update and price increase coming August 16.

So much has been happening with We Happy Few since the title joined Games in Development, but this journey is almost at its end. As the full game's release approaches, developers Compulsion Games are beginning revealed their plans for the near future.

The final in-development update "Life in Technicolor" is dropping August 16, introducing new Joy effects as well as a brand new UI (still WIP), AI reworks and much more. This date also marks the previously-announced price change – jumping to $50.99 (or your local equivalent).

You can read the full announcement here.

If you've been on the fence, this is a great time to hop over – and stay tuned for more info coming soon!
Whoaah, We Happy Few is going to cure cancer! How can´t we be happy about that?!

EDIT: Do we actually have to play it or is it sufficient to own it in the library?

The update comes out at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 5pm GMT. I expect the announcement to be made at the same time.

Manywhelps: Tomorrow probably won't make many of you happy.
So We Happy Few will now be We Unhappy Many?

I'm a KS backer and this is still one of the most promising games I've backed on there. I really hope you're not going to own goal yourselves this close to a win.

I agree.

I backed it for 3 reasons:

1.) I enjoyed Contrast
2.) Compulsion is a Canadian company - sort of a "shop local" thing, although Montreal is a long ways from being local.
3.) The story looked interesting.

I haven't actually played it. I'm a Linux user waiting for the Linux version, and I don't really like to play early access games. Everything I've seen / read about it since has sounded great though!

Compulsion have been great too. I look forward to the weekly updates.

I think at the end of today, I'll be glad I got it for $30CDN.

Me too. Pretty sure it's not though. It might be a bit shocking though. I've got a blog post written about everything, which I'll link here at 1pm.
Today's the day, right?

Ah, just posted - 1pm.

But 1 pm where in the world, eh?

Okay, will reserve judgement until the time appointed. I'm assuming you're not adding DRM, or the game wouldn't still be on GOG. And you're not making it episodic one hopes, especially not at the new asking price. Guess we'll soon all know what it in fact is.

It had better not! I've been working on acquiring my great-great-grandfather's fortune for years now, and that would be a major setback!

Just think. If you were me right now, then you'd have known for an hour and a half.

That's how time zones work, right?

I'm pretty sure.

So... how's the future? Do you have flying cars yet?

[EDIT] btw, nice avatar. It looks similar to something I've seen before... hmm....

It's alright. That guy who passed me on the interstate this morning provided some conclusive evidence that flying cars are a thing of the now.

It actually took me a moment to realize what you were talking about with the avatar, since I've had this image squirreled away on my hard drive for two or three computers now. Maybe I should see if I have a more faithful adaptation still laying around somewhere...

If you'd like I can give you list of specific names. :P

Would that be a list of all the charities collecting money to support research for a cancer cure? They'd all be out of a job. And of course all of the actual researchers and scientists doing the real work, too.

Or maybe the people who already cured cancer that now have to publicly sue the game developers to protect their patent? Not that the patent holders weren't going to eventually tell everyone, they just wanted to wait until next year… Again.
