Final pre-release update and price increase coming August 16.

So much has been happening with We Happy Few since the title joined Games in Development, but this journey is almost at its end. As the full game's release approaches, developers Compulsion Games are beginning revealed their plans for the near future.

The final in-development update "Life in Technicolor" is dropping August 16, introducing new Joy effects as well as a brand new UI (still WIP), AI reworks and much more. This date also marks the previously-announced price change – jumping to $50.99 (or your local equivalent).

You can read the full announcement here.

If you've been on the fence, this is a great time to hop over – and stay tuned for more info coming soon!

You're talking about a map used for navigation, right? I've played the current version of the game, and it's already in there.
The only good game that came out of In-dev was KONA ... but stunts like this stink

Pay 30$ for a demo (guess KONAMI with MGSV paved the way for this horrendous trend ), that we will slowly upgrade to full... why not go full derp ... 30$ was the base game, the 20$ is the DLC that turns this demo into full ... and every patch from this point on will be 20$ more ... BUT IT WILL ADD FEATURES ... hahaha guess you got problems with money management ... like Double Fine has...

To add more LULZ ... this was a Kickstarted game that got (or had) the funding to finish the project ... from A to B from that founding

Dreams Vs Expectations ...

Games are not luxury items , and they should not go up in price (even if some Nintendo retard selling some cartridge for 4k will tell you )... Guess the devs think "The price of the product is proportional to its quality... and you have to pay Extra to get the GOOOD SHIT"

haha #Hellno

Magog doesn't appear to be correct. I see $32.99CDN in Canada.

Hmm . Looks like Magog is outdated . It"s time to disable it from Adalia Fundamentals .

Yeah, it's €27.99 ($32.99 USD), to me, and that price doesn't even show up in that list. And, yeah, I had to make the conversion. Prices for Portugal, Spain or at least the Iberian peninsula *never* show up in any of those lists, I have to basically figure out in which price region they are putting me in. Probably the one where Italy is, I guess? Which means that, according to magog's list, I should be paying $31.59.

Also, if it shows up as $32.99 CAD, Canadians are paying $25.25 USD. Which seems to be outdated regarding Canada, as well, as the list says they should be paying $24.47.

There's definitely some regional differences in price, though; I'm paying way more for We Happy Few than Canadians are. Unless hummer010 meant $32.99 USD, not CAD, in which case we are paying exactly the same.

this will be my last comment in this topic about this game ... but for 30$ you can get Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice , and the Devs where opened why it costs like that : To counter act GOG/Steam price cut and to pay for Unreal Engine licence ... so they could get the price/returns they wanted from each unit ...

This is Openness ...

Adding another 20$ to the base 30$ ... translates to "We want to counter License costs ... that we had to pay from each unit , when we added some things that need license commissions"

Like we hired an artist to do some work for us , but in his contract he gets 2K $ for his work and 3% of each sold unit ...

People are pissed , because they gave you money ... with a fixed end cost to do a game ... that should have take all possibilities into account ... then when the game is nearly done ... this happens , it just makes you look bad

I don't even know where to begin with how wrong this is.

Guys, you really need to start asking questions rather than making things up. Ask why we do things, and I'll give you an answer. Otherwise you're just speculating.

Edit: I should add there have been a number of posts like this, so I'm not intending to jump on you here. I just don't understand, when someone is willing to respond to questions, ask them! You might learn something. Assuming random things and going off on random rants... honestly I just don't know what to say.

To be completely honest, I don't even know if I understand what that person is trying to get at... I *think* I get the gist of what they are trying to convey, but it mostly reads as incoherent rambling, to me. Maybe the fact that English is not my native language, probably...?

Either way, kudos for deciphering that post.

I think that, at this point, we all said what we wanted to say, and I mostly feel like people in this thread are just incessantly repeating ourselves, so I'll forego doing precisely that and just try to remind everyone that we're only one day away from knowing the reasons behind the increase in price and, at this point, that's what we should be focusing on. There's no reason to keep at this, right now, I think; if you have questions you think have gone unanswered, by all means, ask them, Manywhelps has been here all the time answering what they can, always being open and honest about it. And make sure to browse the thread to at least make sure you aren't basically just saying something that has been said for the nth time.

The 16th is upon us, and everything will be made clear then (whether we find the motives for the price hike justifiable or not is a different matter altogether, but let's give Compulsion the benefit of the doubt, at least). Having a little patience never hurt anyone.
I think I'll just wait until it inevitably goes on sale months after release... I don't trust in development games.

The funny thing is, I'm anxiously awaiting the 16th just to find out what the reason is behind the price hike. I'm not all that compelled by the game itself, especially not at that price.

Makes sense to me. And it's still better than my reasons to wait for tomorrow, which are basically the chances to say 'CALLED IT!' and 'THIS is the reason you're selling your game for 50 bucks?!'... so I guess I'm being a hypocritical douche, all things considered, when I'm asking people in here to give Compulsion Games the benefit of the doubt.
You guys should see the price raise for the Xbox version! It went up from $29.99 to $59.99 in the US and from 29.99€ to around 69€ (that are 81$) in the German/Austrian Store!

Let me assure you that your English reading comprehension is not the problem with that particular post.

I've figured out why the prices are going to jump. It's because of the eclipse!!
