So, Is this like GTA V in space??!!!
Or is this BETA than that?

tinyE: I heard that game was almost totally impossible, I mean TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE as in almost half as hard as Cossacks.
avatar
Kardwill: The game is complicated. You fail. A lot. and you will see a lot of your little Kerbals dying horribly in the process.
But you learn as you go. You get better. a few launches, and you manage to have a stable rocket and to bring back the crew alive. A few more, and you get to orbit. Then you look at the moon, and think "I'll never get there, it's impossible!", but a few more tral-and-errors-(and explosions and stranded ships)...
Learn as you play. It's far from impossible. Even I made it to Duna (Mars), so anybody can :)

My advice : start with a "science campaign". This way, you'll unlock more ship parts ans you go and learn to use them, rather than getting everything at once (sandbox) or having to manage a budget (full campaign)
Cool. We'll see if it runs on my system and if not I'll wishlist because thanks to you I will for sure get it at some point.
It actually sounds really fun the way you describe it.

Grargar: Current ones on Steam:

MINIMUM:
OS:Windows Vista
Processor:Core 2 Duo
Memory:3 GB RAM
Graphics:SM3 512MB VRAM
Hard Drive:1 GB HD space

RECOMMENDED:
OS:Windows 7 or 8 64 bit
Processor:Core i5
Memory:4 GB RAM
Graphics:SM4 1GB VRAM
Hard Drive:2 GB HD space

BillyMaysFan59: Thanks.

Hmmm.... 3GB RAM. Probably shouldn't take the chance.
You can fly simple ships on older PCs, but the calculations quickly become heavy.
I think my old laptop nearly died on me when a 200+ parts rocket disassembled 3000 meters in the air. ^^
Expect a lot of crashes and mayem

It is. As Matewis said, the sense of accomplishment when you succeed at yet another "impossible" task is awesome :)

Really a unique game.
Oh yeah! Now I know why my wallet wouldn't cooperate for the last sale---it was waiting for this! :D

Minions in Space, what could be better?

Matewis: Expect a lot of crashes and mayem
Oh so basically it's just like the Soviet Space Program? :P
avatar
karnak1: Does the game also involve exploring the universe (landing on other planets and having sort of rogue-like exploration on them)?
avatar
Kardwill: Well, you get to launch space missions to other planets of your system, and you can land on them, and astronauts can get out for a walk and some scientific experiments, but there's not much to explore once there.

and then you'll realise that your mission can't get back home because they don't have enough fuel, or you damaged the ship during landing, or you landed on uneven ground and the ship fell on its side, so they'll be forced to use the stranded ship as some sort of permanent base...
So you'll plan a rescue mission to get them out of there. But due to a piloting error, said rescue mission will crash and explode on a completely different part of the planet...
OK, so you build a bigger ship... Which ends up disassembling and exploding on your launchpad, taking half the labs with it...

You get the picture. The game is all about building and flying rockets (and rovers, and shuttles, and planes if you are good since they're far more complicated to design and pilot than simple rockets). And seeing them fail hideously, but the next one will be better...
And it's glorious that way ^^
Looks cool!

Yep. Launch something and if it doesn't work try it again with MORE POWER!
avatar
Kardwill: Oh yeah, I was king of the world when I managed to get an astronaut alive on the Mun for the first time :)

(Okay, he was stuck up there for years, but at least the view was nice from his new home ;). And I got a ton of screenshots of Jeb, his flag and his wrecked ship in the great western crater )
Lol yeah me too :) It was also Jeb, and he also got onto Mun via a miraculous crash landing. I've restarted the game since then, and the current Jeb as far as I can remember is now stuck in a massive orbit around the sun and when last I played I was busy mounting a rescue operation. Unfortunately my meager laptop couldn't keep up anymore with the monstrosities that I tried to launch. 1000+ parts upwards reduced my game to a power point presentation. Granted I never tried playing after the melding mod/patch which I can imagine would help a lot.

XD I'm sure the average KSP player could give them a serious run for their money

That's very good news. I've been thinking of getting it for a while but did not want to pay that much for an "Early Access Game" on Steam.

I won't be able to get it on Monday but it should be mine before the next weekend.

tfishell: Wow, I really assumed this game was essentially locked into Steam in some way; expected it to show up even less than Transistor. :)
I'm personally surprised it was coming out of early access at all. I thought it might be one of those games that are planning to stay in there forever.

KSP was the game that made me realize for the first time that some early access game might actually be pretty damn good. Still suspect they are the minority though.
Love the way half the "ship" landed 200m away from the module ^^
I've seen quite a few catastrophes built by friends. Looking forward to it.
