He's REALLY popular with the cats...

laser_eyes: I notice that the TRY GOG GALAXY button uses that ugly sky blue while the MORE button uses that wonderfully eye-catching drab grey.
Would you prefer the MORE button to have ugly (like you said) colors, also?
I don't mind the grey button.
It's not easy to miss it (it's in large font, and all caps), and it doesn't hurts your eyes.
Seems fine, to me.

Where is Wakkalo?

I could have him make you a derep script. :D

laser_eyes: ... including GOG Galaxy as a default installation on Quake 4 is the first sneaky thing I've ever seen GOG do...
I have always used the old Gog Downloader and I think I have only see MAYBE one title that included Galaxy in those installers.

I have crappy net access, only 3mb, so the downloader makes sure I am going to get the whole file and not just constantly timing out because of some random browser issue.

The downloader might be the way to go for you.

tinyE: But since you mentioned it, how many games do you have?

If I click the link it says you have '404' games.

I don't mind the low rating, but what does everyone have against Cyclops? :P

Yeah yeah, the movies screwed him over, but screw the movies. I'm talking about the books man!

tinyE: I hate Galaxy as much as anyone else, maybe even more, but IMHO these threads are getting old.

The default thing pissed me off for a few minutes but then I realized, if I can't be asked to take five seconds to switch downloader options, maybe I deserve to have this crap unnecessarily downloaded on my computer.
Show me where a new user will find the info on the account page or game card. Because that shit ain't ANYWHERE. The only place people can ffind out about classic installers is by accidentally clicking on the "More" button, or by asking on the forum where smart-ass users will berate the guy for not being psychic and reading minds. Or performing a *snerk* forum search (because broken feature being broken isn't apparent to everyone, either). So people will keep posting about it until GOG makes the knowledge readily available, which doesn't jive with their "silently infect as many users accidentally with our client as possible to bloat numbers to prove people want our client" mentality.

I found it by clicking on the Support -> Downloads link in the menu bar at the top of the page.

https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/categories/201553005

I would hope most new folks would take a second and flip through the menu up there.

Not sure I see your point - where exactly on the page you linked is it stated that there are two sets of standalone installers now, and the info where to find the Galaxy-free ones?

It doesn't say that there are two sets of browser downloads though, which is what HSL is asking about.
