JMich: It doesn't say that there are two sets of browser downloads though, which is what HSL is asking about.
As the link provided did not lead directly to any related information on display i merely showed the available information there that i interpreted as related.

What there is.. in my oppinion too is lacking in many aspects.

Disclaimer: i do not have changed my stance on neither GOG; GOG Galaxy or the Bundled Galaxy installers and the lack of information. My self restriction more shows does i simply gave up on GOG and use the time on more meaningful and/or enjoyable things.
Cheers, but rest assured that I made my post #43 after having read the answer to that question, I even clicked the "View article page/rate" button to see if more details are given; there aren't.

What is provided there does not answer the question, and I'd say it's hardly relevant; the only thing it does is provide info about the available download options in general.
Were the info about the existence of two sets of standalone installers, which of the two each option provides by default and how to download the Galaxy-free ones when choosing the "Browser downloads" option provided, then the page would indeed be relevant, and drmike's post #42 would stand, for both new and old users.
As it is, the actual relevant info can only be found in the forum thread the Galaxy-laden installers were announced, a thread well buried now; customers are not obliged and should not be expected to scour the forum in hope to find info that should be readily available to them.

I can only totally agree.
But it is a mere symptom, in my opinion the problem is the shift of GOG itself on its principles, morals and goals.
And the majority of the current user base does not care about those things, it just wants to consume games. Maybe they understood does DRM is bad for them but didn't recognized (yet) it is only one of many customer unfriendly industry practices.
Even the last initial principle of beeing DRM free is being bent and attacked constantly by the adoption of current gaming and its practices.
The lock in effect does exist @ GOG just as it does exist @ steam and thus i can only warn everyone feeling too comfortable, as your "DRM free" that makes you feel so safe and good is not much worth if you have games that rely on active support and services.
And a shoehorned in singleplayer mode for a game that is clearly designed around online services is usually a laughable attempt to make it DRM free.

laser_eyes: Subject: How do I downrep GOG?
By posting a blog article opinion piece on your blog (and starting one if you don't have one already), and sharing links to the article appropriately where the target audience will see it, without spamming. https://www.blogger.com
Was curious, how do you downrep gog main posts?

Recall seeing one couple months or so ago where the main post was heavily downrated, yet there's no + or - to do so.
Are you referring to this thread? https://www.gog.com/forum/general/offline_installers_with_an_option_to_install_gog_galaxy/page1
Yep, that's the one.
How come they got "low rated" when there's nothing to click to vote either way?

But there is. The buttons are visible when you hover over the post.

Odd, never seen them on blues before today. Must be a goglitch or something in browser.
Still can't downvote non-blue gog posts though.
You should be able to. i can see the vote buttons on both blues and whites. Are you viewing it on a smartphone or something?
Ironically, I stopped buying games from GOG because there is no Galaxy on Linux. Funny thing how the world goes, Windows users don't want to know about it, Linux users want it because some games are not available without.

Posts from the user/account called "GOG.com" don't seem to get the buttons, and also don't show the "link to this post" link, and I think that's the only "non-blue" that's actually from GOG.
Example.

That's something else they regularly screw up. Linking embedded youtube clips, when this site can't handle embedded....anything. /facepalm.
