Release the game on GOG.com Art is meant to offend people and make them reflect on the state of our world. If it elicits an emotional response, then it has succeeded in its mission.

StorkV88: Meh... and I am just disappointed in GoG.
avatar
Fenixp: To be fair, it feels a bit silly to be disappointed by something GOG does on regular basis. You know they refuse games. Go and purchase Hatred elsewhere, it seems to me GOG has done the maths and won't miss the income.

Just watch the video unless you and your troll buddies only have one thing on your minds. You know after seeing all that I realized I should have not sent anything to that one guy, period.

Fenixp: I've seen a bunch of gameplay vids. As I said in another thread, the game just looks incredibly dull. It's precisey the same chaos escalation you get when you start killing people in a game like Saint's Row The Third, except Saint's Row The Third does it a lot better and has an entire game on top of that. Hatred doesn't have nearly the same variety of baddies, of weapons, killing doesn't seem to be particularily satisfying, vehicles seem to handle like ass, the only thing which looks good about it is fire and enviromental destruction physics, which is not nearly enough. I hope it at least has good scoring system and online ladders, but it doesn't seem to.
I can say the very same thing about any 10 rated COD out there, they all are drab, boring and dull to me, all the time.

Opinions and tastes vary, not even saying that's what you like, just the point.

I think the biggest draw for me is the destructive environments, could care less about car handling. I was looking for glitches needing to be fixed in all I reviewed.

Tracido: TotalBiscuit isn't into this kind of thing to begin with. Never heard of him loving Postal or Manhunt 2, this is specifically for a niche audience, and the media madness only blew it up, that's all there is to it.
So it's a mediocre game with technical problems (every review I've seen so far says so) and it's just for a niche audience.

But you still wonder why GOG decided not to sell it?

Not my fault so many reviewers have terribly outdated systems... https://youtu.be/WRF5eJrIKvU

Oh sure, all I'm saying is that the game is not outstanding in any way. Even the enviromental destruction was done better in the new Red Faction games (Especially gorilla. Eh? Gorilla warfare? Eh?) It's really not difficult to understand why would GOG refuse it for completely non-political reasons. Postal at least has historical significance and part of GOG is still collecting of historically significant games - Hatred does not have that, yet. But it probably never will.

If that's your definition of art, the trailers were definitely artful movies, but the game itself elicits about as much of an emotional response as GTA games do. Less in fact, because GTA at least gets you invested in characters and the world before killing begins.

edit: https://youtu.be/WRF5eJrIKvU?t=5m45s. The guy gets shot right in the head, proclaims "Oh shit" and proceeds to run into the prota(anta)gonist.

Edit2: And then the protagonist shoots at him from point blank range and misses completely. And then he flails his knife without any actual impact in the general direction of the NPC's body. Dear lord.

To you, I thought Red Faction was awful, but it was overall, like how I judge all games, overall.

It won't sell, sure, got ya.

At the last response, I don't get you, if I wanted a deep story to get all emo it wouldn't be a twin stick shooter.

I think here's the problem. I haven't played the game but I'm going to guess here that it's possible that is intentional. It's not about variety of weapons, graphics, story, characters, cars, enjoyment of killing or even highscore.

It's about hatred and killing innocent people. Hatred is about hatred, pure and simple.

In fact, if I play this game and I feel awful about it (I don't think that it will happen simply because I'm aware that it's a game) the developers have done their job. Most games are made for entertainment values, this one doesn't seem to be. I like the change since there's more to the gaming medium than fun.

Nah, you'll wave to wait for the sequel, Remorse, for that. A gripping and visceral emotional journey through something something, right in the feels.

Trust me, the devs have NO intentions of making a sequel for a long time, and that was confirmed. This shitstorm has been enough.

Touché. Now I hope they make Remorse.

Thank you, btw. :) This is why they sent them out early to catch all final bugs, and they've been busy fixing them for the day one patch.
