To be honest I will gladly pirate some of the games on GOG to play them cause I can't afford them atm. But for sure I will populate my shelf when I can. Cause the site is awesome,the community is awesome and the whole idea reviving DRM-free gaming is cool in my eyes.
So yeah pirates are not different type of ppl. They are gamers too like all the ppl hating them.
The awfull part is that gamers that can afford buying games hate ppl that can't afford buying games... that suck..
Yes dude and a 9.99$ is my money for eating 2 days so yes I do preffer to eat than buy a game. If I make money I will never pirate games ;)

I've known this for quite some time now, oddly enough.....I just never mentioned my thoughts out of fear of being called stupid/etc.......it's the old free rider "dilemma" and how people react to it, I think.

Yeah Rager we are stupid in some peoples eyes because we make a difference between people who have 2000-2500$ a month paychecks and people who have to live with 500$ a month.

I don't belive your 9/11 conspiracy theories and it's funny to see people complaining about goverments. Example in Greece people didn't have any problems with goverment when they were given lavish social benefits, where they think the gorverment got those funds from trees? And now everybody is crying because its time to pay the bill, what else you did expect to happend?

IMO the real "funny" bit is how some will bemoan piracy(due to the aforementioned jealousy of the "free rider".) of games while often pirating or encouraging others to pirate other forms of media like music/old tv shows/movies/etc. (I know, I know....not all do this, but many who complain about piracy do......then there's all the generalization that all pirates are alike/the same level of evil/etc.)

I wonder about this now: What if images of famous places and such were copyrighted and couldn't be distributed without permission or a person buying them, and poor people who couldn't travel to see those places in person could either download the images of said places and see them or never see them at all? (Like how would people feel about said poor downloading said images/videos/etc.) I dunno if this example holds up but it sprang to mind just now regardless.

(I mean, like some said seeing such things isn't needed to live, right?)

I don't live in Greece and people don't complain about the benefits to be honest. They complain about where the fuck did 200 bilion euro go. If you show me one poor politician I will agree with your point :)

Actually pictures like that are copyrighted :) And ppl still use them for Wallpapers and stuff...so Yeah all of you ppl out there are pirates. One thing is more funny that actually The Scene (Piracy community) is a lot better than every other community out there. They fight with DRM like one...
Googling a picture of Eifel Tower is piracy. You see it without paying 20 euros to be on it. So we should crucify you ! Yeah crucifiction for all :D

I believe using such shots commercially is copyrighted in some instances(like if you claim to be the owner/representative of the French tourist bureau/Eiffel Tower/etc and use the images to make money.), but not ALL......I meant if such images were copyrighted for ALL uses, even private, non-commercial ones(like private viewing).

Google is comercial using.... so when type Eiffel Tower wallpaper and downloading it you actully pirate it :) Cause ppl do make money from clicks on their sites :) I'm guessing you will understand my point if you look outside the box for a sec ;)

Well, except the ones that aren't. But even among pictures protected by copyright, the permissible usage varies from one country to another and often depend further on licensing terms so your blanket statement isn't all that convincing.

Then Google would be at fault and not the ones downloading it........don't get me wrong here....i'm on your side on a few of these issues, but if you want to present a convincing argument you need to get your facts straight. ;)

Sorry but two wrongs won't make it right. Many owners of those pictures don't care what people do with them in private use. But i am quite sure that owners of gog care that their hard work is being distributed freely over the web. They are small company so every lost sale hurts.

No no my whole idea was that Google gives such options to ppl and nobody complains about it...I'm not pointing fingers with that. Nobody is complaining about FB & Google selling personal info of ppl to corporations. Nobody is complaining about the 200mil credit card hacked this days in US.

The strangest thing for me: small companies like the indie devs don't complain about their sales,companies like GOG/CD Projekt don't complain about theirs sales. And all the indie games sold on bundles/steam etc. can be pirated. But still devs are making new games.
The problem is elsewhere. And a lot of ppl don't get it. With recent events in US(a lot of ppl got screwed up with the recesion) they are starting to understand why ppl outside US pirate games.
Let me put it this way. With 400-500$ a month (when I have a job) my choice is eat,pay bills and by clothes or buy games... yeah I preffer to buy food. But yet I'm a gamer and I love games...so what to do..either rob a bank/kill someone/sell drugs or just pirate the game.... You see my point now?
Dude I'm on GOG because of a torrent file found on demonoid. So yeah torrents do good advertising for small companies like GOG.
