spinefarm: And you don't pirate at all right? People enough with this bullshit already...everybody pirates from the Internet...

Vestin: I don't usually resort to personal attacks but I'll make an exception just for you.
"A thief thinks everyone steals" - does this sound familiar at all ? Are you truly so blinded by your own corrupt mind that you cannot possibly imagine people doing otherwise ? Are you so naive as to think that if "everybody's doing it" then, obviously, it must be right ? If someone says something is wrong and yet does it himself, does this really automatically imply that WHAT HE SAYS is wrong ?
Your reasoning is riddled with fallacies, your attempts at denigrating EVERY HUMAN BEING just to make yourself not feel bad in comparison are ridiculously small-minded, your posts are extremist is exactly the wrong way - they attempt to undermine the values on which GOG was built.
Rethink your life before any further attempts to manifest your imaginary superiority.
Where the heck did you read me saying it is right to pirate stuff? So you paid for your Windows,Anti-virus program,Your music, movies, games ... Oh yes you didn't but everybody is a puritan this days.

This thread become more and more fun to read. With new people coming here and saying pirates are : thiefs,extremist...stuff like that.

Vestin: snip
A +1 from me, Vestin. Thanks for summing it up much better than I possibly could.

Well you are also putting words in people's motuh by saying everyone pirates(without proof)....which IMO is just as bad as those who keep saying piracy=theft or that all pirates pirate to be jerks. If you want to sound credible you have to drop using the generalizations against the other side and be willing to listen to the rational members of the other side, if even just a bit.

Ok will do with some facts then :)

• Leading Countries: Together the top 5 countries (Italy, China, Spain, Brazil and France) accounted for more than 78 million detections — more than 14 times the number of detections attributable to subscribers in the United States (approximately 5.6 million).

Anti-P2P group claims the top 5 video game piracy countries are Italy (17.1%), Spain (15.1%), France (7.9%), Germany (6.9%), and Poland (6.1%), and that it sent out some 45million warning letters to people in over 100 countries.

By pirate I mean download something(movie/song/game) that isn't free/freeware and use it without paying or stream such media from non-authorized sites(Like movie viewing sites)....I don't count looking at pics on google or streaming most stuff on youtube, btw.

Even 1 mp3 count as piracy. So yeah that was my point too.

The problem is people think you're calling them "pirates" as in (Seemingly to them) saying that everyone knowingly/willfully pirates stuff (as I described above in post 330), when you're possibly trying to say that you think everyone "pirates" stuff(as in clicks on pictures and stuff that is copyrighted....etc.).

This confusion could be what's causing the miscommunication in this thread to a certain degree. Just my two cents. :\

Oh and BTW, I still don't think everyone does it...even the accidental "piracy" like saving copyrighted pictures. There's old people and babies without computers, for example...poorer people without computers who live in the woods, etc.

GameRager: Vestin, dude, chillax a bit....I honestly think Spinefarm is just letting his emotions get the better of him (...)
He's almost an exact opposite of you. While he blindly asserts stuff while high on emotions, you disprove things logically (and, at times, lose track of the POINT of a given discussion).
Besides - it's quite evident where his emotions stem from, isn't it ?

In fact - I DID. OH SHIT - what are you going to do now ? After all - your argument hinges on everyone being the same lowlife you are, doesn't it ? Unless it was completely irrelevent, you basically said "If you pirate as well, you've just proven me right". Well - I don't. Want me to show you pictures of the shitton of legally bought movies, music and games in all shapes and sizes, digital and physical, sometimes the same titles A FEW TIMES OVER ?
No ? You know WHY ? Because it doesn't prove a goddamn thing. You can say I'm a saint, you can call me a knight templar, you may think I'm insane... Does it matter ?
NO. Because what I say is true or false regardless of who I am as a person.

If I said "the boy who cried wolf", would you argue that there are no wolves here ? I did not call anyone a thief, it's a SAYING that is meant to be interpreted as "people who do evil things lie to themselves by thinking that everyone else does them as well (and they do so to soothe their conscience)". "Extremist" was meant to convey that your views are the opposite of "moderate".

So in your world 1 "sin" makes a person evil, there's no such thing as changing one's mind and anyone who strays from the righteous path can either be an unrepentant evil-doer or a hypocrite ?
You know - most people hide the bullshit principles behind their stance so as not to get called out on them. You proudly present them to the world for all to laugh.

You know exactly what I mean. People who use computers pirate stuff. My point was that everybody thar writed against pirates here is trying to clear themself for the world for pirating. For me there is no diff if you are a pirate or not. You are a human. From that point... I don't care what you do on your personal computer.
Also, if I may add something, spinefarm, "everyone pirates" implies that every one of Earth's (last time I checked) ~6.8 billion inhabitants (see here) have pirated something at some point in their life. Your entirely valid statistics don't even come near that number! Therefore, please stop using baseless assertions to try and back up your arguments - it makes them rather easy to pick apart.

I blame the internet, bad parenting, and nachos......something so deliciously good can't be anything but evil. Amiright?

But seriously, what do you think they come from?

I know that saying everybody who owns a computer pirates isn't factual....what about those who use a computer and never go on the net(and thus never let their browser load[accidentally or on purpose] any copyrighted materials?)? What about those in countries where it isn't illegal for one's browser to DISPLAY copyrighted materials drawn from the net as long as one doesn't save a copy of them?

In those cases and more people who use PCs don't pirate. So you can't equivocally and irrevocably state that everyone who uses a pc pirates, or even everyone who uses a pc AND the net pirates.

So in your world stealing 1 mp3 and stealing 20 mp3's is something different? It is still stealing and there is no diff in it.
I have a ton of legally bought Movies/Music/Games etc.,but still I do pirate some stuff. So what am I a lowlife? A saint? What?

And yet I don't believe you about pirating.
This never gets old, does it? :)
