orcishgamer: Overall, they're a cool idea, I'm just wondering if there isn't a better design for them.

JMich: I have a friend (or addict) who carries a usb stick with WoW on him at all times. On his desktop, he has an SSD just for WoW. While WoW would definately not fit in a ram drive, I guess it is possible to load some smaller games there (Torchlight, Legend of GrimRock, or any <4GB game). Not sure if you'd really see a performance boost though.
I thought you could get some pretty big Ram drives, didn't they have 100GB models back in the day (I know they cost a lot).

You know what, I was thinking of a different kind of hardware, lmao, yeah, you could have a Ram drive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAM_drive

That's actually a pretty good idea, you could pre-load your favorite game, most high end mobos support 32GB so you could even fit most modern shooters (hell, you could run Max Payne 3 with a 64GB set up).

Some old and new info on the Summer Steam sale.

http://pc.gamespy.com/articles/122/1225352p1.html

Funny thing is that for the first time I'm totally unenthusiastic about it.
Apart from Alan Wake's American Nightmare all my wishlist items are games that have yet to come out.

Looking at the backlog on Steam and here on GOG kills any chance of an impulse buy.
Guess it's finally time to play all those buggers, should keep me occupied for the next ten years.
That link is a bit goofy. Those day listings are indie bundles (1 bundle per day), they're not seperate sale items, and the rest of the stuff is generic franchise packs that every sale gets. It's not really show much of anything.

I doubt those will be the only sales Steam will had but I'm equally unenthusiastic. Amazon and GG already got my money last week so unless Steam is selling Batman AC GOTY for $5 I doubt I'll care. Even if they do have something irresistible I'll probably wait until Amazon prize matches.
Amazon doesn't sell the Batman games digitially. They lack Warner Bros as a publisher.

Yeah if that's their "sale" people will be pissed. A lot of folks have almost all of those indie games already from the various internet bundles.
I guess it will be made around the Bundle of the day theme, with everything else pretty much standard like every sale.

Maybe if more mainstream news rags print this type of article we can force Valve to start their sale early in order to prevent everyone from thinking their summer sale is all about getting Trauma and Anomaly Warzone Earth for 2 bucks for the 33rd time.
A local deal for those who don't watch the homepage (like me, I learned about it on another forum :))
Legend of Grimrock for $7.49

It's actually a blue post on the first page in our forum too.
If that's the Steam Sale then I'm happy. It means I won't be spending more than $10. Hell, depending on discounts, I may get away with spending only $5.

I agree. I already spent 90% of my (games) money the last couple of days on purchases from Amazon (console games and movies), and the rest I will probably spend on Gog or GG (wish GOG would sell X-Superbox). Apart from the rare game, I have simply stopped buying DRMed PC games and focus solely on DRM free PC games and console games. Enough is enough with the DRM.
Guys, I'm pretty sure that even if that thing is actually real, it's only a fragment of the sales. Each day a new indie bundle is a very likely feature, but they are definitely going to discount more than just indies.
It's real in the sense that those games will be on sale, but the indie bundles will be 1 daily. They usually have 10+ daily deals. So it's 10 dailies + Day 1 bundle, 10 dailies + day 2 bundle.

But again, spread the gamespy article, get people frothed up so Steam releases it early!

Bad example then. I wanted to mention something from my wishlist but it has gotten tiny as of last week so I picked wrong. Still, GG could price match and I'd get blue coins too.
