Absolute classic, and still a blast

The scale of this game is what really gets you. Battles can encompass thousands of units, artillery can shoot further than most tanks could travel in 5 minutes, but the largest maps are so huge that the only sensible way to cross them is with aircraft. The default unit set is vast - each side should have at least 10 mechs, 10 tanks, 10 aircraft and 10 ships - and adding extra units is as simple as downloading the unit file and placing it in the game directory. Definitely worthwhile for any RTS fan.

RTS Addiction

TA, Love it, I was so young Annihilation was the largest word I could spell. The game was awesome at the time, my PC couldn't handle some of the bigger skirmish maps. I still have this game installed, the 5000unit MOD is worth it, VS 2 AI allied on Hard and you have a conquest that will last days.. literally. Supreme Commander is made from the same guy. Still nothing beats the classic, +sing and you get happy singing units. man i could rant for ages about this game, Buy It PLAY IT!!

The most glorious and influential RTS!

Directly from the golden age of pc gaming, Total Annihilation has left a mark on the history of video gaming (and my infancy) as one the most influential and one of the greatest pioneer RTS that paved the way for 3d strategy games. It's grim setting and story ( if somewhat simple) with a conflict of biblical proportion are greatly entertaining and deeply engaging while accompanied by one of the most on-point soundtrack you ll ever hear (seriously, seems that at the time they had vision for this sort of things). Gameplay wise, its a truly innovator of the genre with its wide range of units and multiple resources system in a 3d environment. On top of that, the commander pack adds a TON of new maps and campaigns to enjoy (yes, even for today standards this game STOMPS ( Arm rule) simply every other strategy game). ...So, didn't already buying it?

One of the best RTS games ever made

Total Annihilation is a 3D RTS made many years ago. On the single player screen type *x, (as in Asterix and X), that will enable 10 players total. You can assign all 9 of the computer opponents to be on the same team. This will make for some Epic skirmishes. Also look online and use a Hex Editor to increase the maximum number of units to several thousand. When the game first came out, the computers of that era could not handle that many units. A few years later the computers could easily handle thousands. Do the tutorials and play the main campaign. This will vastly increase your skills. This is a fantastic game for head to head with your friends on your home LAN. (We usually ban the long range weapons and Nukes..... but we always build them because someone always gets froggy and builds them anyway). I have played so many RTS games, but this is still my favorite!

The Finest RTS ever made

I adore this game. Despite what my profile says, I've spent countless hours playing this competitively on the internet with random folks from all over the world. It has stood the test of time, and remains as the finest RTS ever made. GOG has packaged the game complete with the expansions and extra units so you can download and play with ease. For those who want to take the next step, you're welcome to join us over at www.tauniverse.com and it's discord server. There are two active mods with competitive games waiting for you. ProTA is a rebalance of Original TA, with some quality of life improvements that bring the UI up to more modern standards. It keeps the original feel and fast paced action while giving a little love to competitively overlooked units. Escalation adds unique units, features and tech levels that bring a whole new look and feel to the game. From things like upgradable defenses to tank blasting robots, Escalation shows what TA is capable of. I hope to see you over there!
