To be fair to the game, we would need to put in our mind that the game was released in 2007 and it was the first game from the studio. Pros: *The story are good and very interesting. It kept me engaged and motivated through the whole time and never felt bored and just want to end the game. *The combat are complex and cover a wide range of options and possibilities. You just need to get your grip on the combat system then you will enjoy it. *The graphics are good for its time. *The consequence of actions are really great and implemented in a good way. The actions of the players matter a lot and it change how the whole game are played. *The potion system are interesting and offer all the things a player need to boost the experience. Good potion user will have a better time playing the game. *Simple armor and weapon system with reasonable upgradable options through the game. *The journal contain a lot of useful information specially for lore motivated players. *Romance Card <3 Cons: *Quests are not ordered and you would need to figure out what order you need to follow from the Witcher wiki. *Some Quests don't trigger automatically and you would need to search in the Witcher wiki to check what is the next phase so you would be able to trigger the quest manually (like gold rush). *Some secondary quests are essential to progress in the game main story but its labeled as secondary (echo's of yesterday, six feet under, and gold rush). *Combat with OTS may get bugged at some fights and you would need to switch to other mode. *At chapter 5 at some point the game will start crashing a lot more than usual. From chapter 1-4 it crashed only twice, in chapter 5 alone it crashed around 4 times.

wow, I have played hundreds of games and I have to say that in this game the controls are very poorly thought out ....

PERFECT!!!

An interesting story with somewhat interesting characters and very good graphics for its time. Underwhelming gameplay with uninteresting loot and weapons combined with a lackluster magic system really hold this game back though. However, I have a lot of respect for the Developer CD Project RED for releasing the Enhanced Edition free to all purchasers of the original version. I recommend The Witcher to anyone who needs a good RPG to play from now until the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Or anyone even slightly interested in getting The Witcher 2).

When i first played it, i could not connect well to the characters. I returned for a 2nd time and gave the game a chance and when i got to the second chapter, i was pulled in and loved it. It is immersive and it featured an unlikely character, that i do not see often. This is how an RPG should be!
