A fetch too many
I can see why this is a classic. A mature story with memorable characters and meaningful choices. Combat is based on timing and works quite well. Inventory system could be better and the dark mood is not what I prefer. But what really broke the experience for me was all the fetching and running. Collect this here. Travel for a couple of minutes and bring it there. Ohh you brought bread? Now the character wants some wine too. And not just any wine. Brew it from 5 rare flowers growing in the swamp 10 minutes away. Wait for night time and ask an old lady for secret ingredient but don't you dare come before you have found a couple of monster claws and a gem from the mystical shrine. And make sure to bring a feline ring from the blacksmith or else her cat will get mad. Many rpgs suffer from this but here it was too much. I'm a hero on an epic quest to save the world. Not some errand boy for annoying npcs. A shame because underneath this tedious coat of filler fat was some memorable moments.
