SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

I see this game has some haters in the reviews... but I played this version of Sim City in the 1990s, I liked it then, and I wanted to play it on my Macbook. It's working fine. I still like it, and it only cost a couple of dollars. Thanks for making the port to MacOS work.

Shame on GOG for using Windows version for the demo video and pics when this is only the DOSBOX version of the game. I made the mistake of buying it without reading the reviews as I was in a hurry at the time. After realizing it was only the DOSBOX version I submitted for a refund. I assumed that they used some sort of updated patched version to make it compatible with Windows 10/11 because they put that under the compatibility information. That is very wrong of them. If it is a DOSBOX game, they should list DOS as the compatibility or at least put [DOSbox] in brackets. Even if they could have included the proper version of the game & listed Windows 95 - Windows XP 32-Bit I could have bought the game to use on my Windows XP 32-Bit system. I guess I will look elsewhere for a proper version of the game.

The game's here in classic form, it's just unfortunate that it's the MS-DOS version and not the Windows version.

SimCity 2000 is one of my favorite Simcity 2000 games and GOG does a pretty fine job of getting this to work on newer versions of Windows. So first of, this is the DOS version and many people complain about this decision. I don't have a huge problem with this but I'd still like to see another version. Either way, you can easily get this for free if you care enough for a google search. More specifically, this is the special collection which feautures WACKY AND COOL AND RAD-UH-HUHUHHH interviews with Will Wright, mastermind genius creator of Simcity, Spore, Sims and also feautures the Urban Renewal Kit, it also feautures those extra scenarios that everybody forgot existed so kudos for that but not really cause this does not actually matter since thats the game, not the way GOG handles it. I have experienced a fair amount of sound errors and some lag in the intro of the game in both of my gaming pcs. I mean it doesn't really bother me that much but when I start the game I want the impression I'm playing a classic not some game that lags on the intro. And whats up with the sound? Its definitely not like I remember it... Anyway, thats it. It also comes with a manual which is a small bonus. I'll give the game a 9/10. Creating a Simulation game is NOT EASY. It requires a lot of time and effort and doing this on an old system is outstanding, thankfully this all worked out thanks to Mr Wright who is a genius. Game window won't maximize so I have to play on a tiny screen. Built a lot on my city and saved it, when I reloaded, it was a completely blank map. Garbage game.
