Sadly it's a poor looter shooter and the dick jokes gets boring really fast. Level designs and enemies are dull, most guns are pointless since the melee weapons does the job 99% of the time and the story is nothing to write home about. But I will give the game this, it made me laugh 1 time and it was actual funny.
If you want a good co-op shooter, get L4D2
Do you want a looter shooter? Get Borderland 2
Awsesome game. Even better than it's predecessor. Great graphics, great sound, great atmosphere, great gameplay, not so great story but who cares..;)
I played through it about 10 hours and I think I finished all missions (campaign + side-missions).
It sure has this or that glitch. Some flickering textures, some areas where you can see through the ground but nothing gamebreaking. It also runs flawless on mid-end machines with very good settings. Great job from the programmers/developers.
I've heard rumours that it refuses to run on duocore-processors at it's current state but I have a quadcore so can't confirm it.
The price is sweet. I got it from "the enemy" (blame me) because they shamelessly put it on sale during the time it was on pre-order so it was a very good deal (SW 2013 I got from GOG).
Also you don't need to have played the first part to understand the story but it's good if you have because there are characters from the first part appearing.
All in all a MUST BUY for Lo Wang fans and other people that like hack'n slash games.
The world looks awesome, the game plays much smoother as well (and there's no annoying enemy that can be only wounded in the back, 2013-Berserker I'm looking at you :-) ) and the weapons feel different and there's enough of them to experiment, without a feeling of having an obvious choice that outshines all the others. Also gone, are the linear levels. Yay. Technically speaking, everything is a step ot two ahead, of Shadow Warrior.
The only complaints I would have, is that I expected more of an old-school FPS and less of a Borderlands-like Looter-Shooter. The other point would be the story. Shadow Warrior 2013 started goofing around, but got intense pretty fast, hit me all to often with suprises and had me at tears in the end.
Shadow Warrior 2 lacks an urgency for the most part, which at least gives the Devs time to develop the world a little further: Earth has coped with the collision, more or less, with a demon princess celebrity while other demons work with the criminal underworld and the wilderness mutates. I really liked this, but the story didn't feel urgent or intense until the last two mission, where you get a (not very) suprising main villain to beat and a ending, that doesn't offer much closing and feels more like a set-up for part 3. I guess after the awesome roller coaster ride of 2013, I just expected more something different. Still a good game.
As a game it's an easy 4/5 for me but as a product it's a 2 or a 3 as I've encountered game breaking bugs. At full price the risk of bugs (from my personal perspective) is not worth it. Maybe get it on a sale if you're prepared to create new charaters on occasion.
Short description of the game: it's like DOOM but with some aspects of randomly generated and more open levels. Keep in mind that I have neither finished this game or played DOOM. Normally I like to finish the game but as I mentioned I encountered some bugs.
Gameplay is strong and it's got a gear system similar to that of borderlands (only guns don't drop).
Battling ugly monsters in a beautiful environment. I faound going through the same levels just for the sake of the amazing architecture and landscape. Zen gardens, pagodas, inspiring enteriors. A balm for the soul of a person who is fond of japanese culture. Somehgow I never got tired of all the wang jokes.
A large arsenal of different weapons makes it even more fun. And you can upgrade all without spending a dime online, which is a blessing in these freemium game times.
The only thing I missed in this game is a 3rd person view when wielding a sword or other melee weapons,
